Why do they announce our military moves like this? Might as well send our enemies a detailed schedule with exact dates and hours.

I find it odd that they are suddenly for getting out of Afghanistan. Who knows what messed up plan they really have

So, you consider the American experience in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021 a "regular" war, then?

Intardasting...

Nope.

umm, technically no official “war” in Korea declared. It was a “police action” I think. People still died. U.S. bases still there. A war by any other name...

Jennifer Rubin per usual with the least self aware tweet of the day:

quote:

My child born in 2001 has never experienced a world in which we were not at war in Afghanistan. Deeply sobering

And here’s Glenn Greenwald per usual with the win responding to her:

quote:

That's because people like you and your neocon comrades never stop demanding other people's children be sent to fight wars with no end. You're still demanding other people's kids stay in Afghanistan to fight this 2-decade war. That's even more deeply sobering.

Did Congress declare "war" in Afghanistan?

No, no, no, no! Biden is bringing them home a couple of months earlier! Racist.

Remember when everyone was giving Trump shite for trying to end unnecessary wars? I do... Now this jackass proclaims he's going to do and I'm sure they'll make him out to be a hero.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the Taliban agree to not attack U.S. and coalition troops as long as they were out by May under Trump's agreement with them?

Does moving the withdrawal to September intentionally open the troops up to attack again?

Technically having forces on the ground in a hostile foreign country is considered a war. Honestly, labeling it the middle eastern theater would be more accurate.

We never fought Russia directly in the Cold War, so again, not an actual war

The funny thing about this is "history" will score it as a Biden move while Trump has been trying to do it for years and was fought every step of the way by the MIC.

Remember all those headlines portraying a withdrawal as a disaster when Trump was prez? I do.

So how many will die over there now that Biden extended Trumps deadline from coming home on May 1, now to a sound bite 9/11? How many?

We're going to drift into pedantry fairly quickly at this pace, but I simply disagree with you. What you've described is a static "status".

War is action-based, not status-based, respectfully, in my opinion.
