Building the Nicaragua Canal would be a great investment in Central America. Competing canals breaks the monopoly and spreads the wealth.
Carter should have at least forced Panama to finish the Pan American highway before turning over the canal. They refuse to finish 50 miles of highway to ensure truck/rail can't compete with the Canal.

The second worst president of all time gave the Canal away. Jimmy says, Thank God for Joe Biden! Now Joe's the worst ever!

Correct sir.
For a little history and how screwed up we now are as a country.
Obama at the behest of his buddy clooney, invented south sudan as a country giving hundreds of millions to sudan and south sudan to accomplish it (well actually gave it to warlords). It is now the largest human disaster in the world with millions displaced and starving.
When Teddy Roosevelt was president he saw the value of the navy and wanted easier passage. He approached Columbia about a canal and they didnt need no stinkin Americans. So he funded some rebels they revolted and he invented Panama. Now that is diplomacy I can handle, the aforementioned, not so much.

I thought China owned the port facilities along the PC
Yeah, they promised they would never shut down the canal. But when my son was in the Marines he went on duty down there to practice how to forcefully take over the canal zone if China started a blockade.
None of this would be a worry if Carter didn't give it up.

Im 1000000% behind this. Probably my dad's top thing to bitch about how Carter "sold it" for a dollar and probably never got that dollar. And how the Obama admin ignored the Monroe Doctrine.
American businesses leaving infrastructure down there searching bigger margins to China for them to just use that money to take over latin America infrastructure we left. It's ridiculous how we allowed them to penetrate and take over the western hemp in just 25yrs after being allowed out of the stone ages. All after we sent our Marines there in the early 1900s to fight the Colombians to break that panama piece off.
Chinese are setting up their EVs in MX to take over as we are backing off of EVs. Which I'm good with, but we are needing to make sure we arent stupid to the fact that that's the future battle when it comes to the auto industry.
If we aren't careful it'll not be a reversible penetration like Europe is dealing with, but wishing they could.

He should ...
I used to know practically every inch of that canal.
Trained there for years .... then we invaded.
Spent more time occupying.
Even had a Colombian girlfriend down there, Claudia ... incredible times spent in Panama. Both ends and in-between.
Still got topos of my sector around Gatun.

It's a project which would seem tailor made for Trump ... and Musk. I wonder if that is the angle he's actually pursuing.
So create a competing canal of Panama doesn't see the light huh?
Obviously PC could be for Chinese vessels/imports only and incentive/make all others go thru the NC. Shutting down Chinese imports so PC doesn't see as much biz. (Just spit balling
Trump needs to also work on improving southern ports from TX thru Carolinas/Virginia to help make ones controlled by Red states so attractive California loses it power over imports by all of their global warming rules.

If we repealed the Jones Act couldn’t it be used for domestic to domestic routes?
Please repeal this act, it is outdated and it serves no purpose other than cost on the people it affects the most!
It was started to protect the northwest wood ship building business decades ago, time to get rid of it!

The Nicaraguan Canal route was scrapped because of the volcanic & seismic activity in that region. Its not feasible.
An interesting fact: The sea levels are different on the Pacific side and the Atlantic side. Same for low and high tides on both sides.
