I hate it for him and his family but pretending you are God’s representative on Earth doesn’t make it sadder, just someone else battling a pretty common form of cancer.

In the end we're all just "someone else" living our day to day lives. Some of us are more important or more well-known than others. Despite what your thoughts on the office he presently holds might be, Pope Leo XIV is a pretty big deal. He's the spiritual leader of a Church whose adherents represent more than a seventh of the global population.

What do you mean? Sometimes they can get away with just a little wedge resection and get good margins. Sometimes if its more central you cant do that and you do lobectomy.
They fact they did surgery at all means they think it will likely be curative.
They probably also did lymph node sampling at a few stations
