In fact, all I can remember is you calling out my work history and how I just can’t understand that working relationships aren’t the same as friendships.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not abundantly clear as to what exactly your "position" is here, to be honest.
Either way, I'm still not sure how that would mean that you lack the power to bail the guy out.

It's in the thread... you said it was stupid and you wish he'd stop breaking the law (not exact quote as I don't care to dig back 15 pages).
I even replied to it and hoo-rah'd that it was nice to see you admit that it was his choices and not systemic obstacles that were the young man's problem.

I suppose it is possible for anyone who isn’t incarcerated to take extraordinary measures to bail someone out of jail.
I could pawn my belongings, cash out a 401k, sell my house, etc etc. Why someone would expect me to do this for one (or all?) of my students is lost on me. As usual, the consensus seems to be that only the people who help at all or care at all should be held to any moral standard or be expected to take extraordinary measures to help someone. The people who passively post snark instead of trying to better the world are exempt from any and all expectations of care and decency.
He is not the first student of mine to be arrested. I don’t have the capacity to bail them all out of jail in perpetuity.
