The IG has the authority to hold the Federal Reserve accountable to American taxpayers. I expect a comprehensive report in short order and am confident the outcome will assist in resolving, once and for all, the questions that led this office to issue subpoenas.
Accordingly, I have directed my office to close our investigation as the IG undertakes this inquiry. Note well, however, that I will not hesitate to restart a criminal investigation should the facts warrant doing so.

Now Congress says it will do its job, an IG investigation is also formally revealed as underway. So there can be accountability. If Congress again shirks its duty, Pirro reserves the right to once again pursue it herself.
Good. It was a weak case.

That pretty well sums it up. Good take.

Pirro was overstepping her bounds. Cost overruns would have to be first investigated by the OIG Then by the GAO then referred the appropriate oversight committee who would then determine if there was reason to issue a referral.
Pirro had no business conducting a formal or informal investigation without the appropriate Congressional authorization. There 's a right way to do these things. She was nothing more than an errand girl breaking with procedure....but Congress would not tell her or Trump to stay in their lane because other than Tillis, they are worried that they may get primaries and the result would be that they had to work or find other emoyment.
Besides, this was nothing more than a Trump pressure campaign on Powell because he did not lower rates when Trump wanted as fast as he wanted to the extent he wanted. He could not have given a shite less about some b.s. cost overruns on a building remodel project.

Other than being about 180° from the truth ... those are some thoughts.
