I trust his research and analysis as well as drag queen bible study over any garbage spit out by contemporary Christian extremists. at least the UK got one thing right, they banned Franklin Graham from preaching.

the sad part is that while this is satire, Thomas Jefferson literally did this when he wrote his own version of the bible
Not really. Jefferson simply sought to find the “moral teachings of a man named Yesha bar Yusef,” stripped of all the supernatural embellishments added later by others.

“The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth” is actually a good, quick read.

The fact that so many posters seem to believe this Babylon Bee story says far more about those posters than the article says about Buttigieg.

Jefferson missed the entire point of Christ's life and ministry: that He is the God-man who gave His life and was raised from the dead to pay the penalty of sin that we deserve.

The reason why Jesus was a good moral teacher was because He was the perfect son of God who obeyed the law perfectly. If you remove the supernatural from the Bible, you reduce the Bible to another arbitrary work of mankind.

Probably why it was added in the first place, to make people listen.

I'm no religious scholar but how can someone claim to be a Christian when they disagree with everything in the Christian Bible

Doesn't jibe with the timeline. Christianity was spreading in the time and location where hostel witnesses could have easily debunked the supernatural aspects that were being taught.
