If you had faith that God so loved the world that he allowed His only Son to die on a cross, so that we may see Him risen again, and know that He is the one true God, then such a question would never enter your mind.
It is just not enough for most unbelievers to not believe, or to simply not care. Most of them, just like Stonehog, must go out of their way to be disrespectful and even disgusting. I pray for him, because I pray for everyone to know God and His love, and Jesus as their savior.

Original sin. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. The serpent convinced them if they simply ate the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil they would be Gods. They ate. Yikes! Sin, sorrow, suffering, confusion, all sort of evil, and the 'Big D" (as in death) entered the world. It got so bad the inhabitants of the pale blue speck of sand floating in space (aka earth) wouldn't even listen to God himself (through his messengers - the Prophets).
So 'Yahweh' descended from His throne, took the form of the creature He created (that be a man for those of you in Rio Linda), and pleaded with 'Man' to change his ways. Whereupon they accused Him of being a fraud, hung Him on a cross, and watched Him bleed out. In hindsight, many listened, confessed their sins, repented, and worshipped Him as a manifestation of the Living God. Many didn't. Since the non-believers can't crucify Him again, they are now going about killing His followers.
Bottom line...God Syndrome bro. The enemies of God have embraced the God Syndrome. Some people (certainly not all) afflicted with this curse, now occupy high positions of leadership in government, mass media, academia, sports, entertainment. I call it the 'Smoke of Satan'.
We're in for a rough ride. But those who persevere will see the gold-surfaced streets of the New Jerusalem. It ain't over till it's over.
