This is exactly where I’m at on the issue. A crafty friend sewed a bunch of cotton masks for my family back in late March that we’ve been wearing when expected. Now that they have become “mandatory” in public, I want something a little more convenient and semi-fashionable, so I ordered some made-in-USA black cotton gaiters from Bezos Inc that I plan on using exclusively once they arrive. Added benefit of marginal anonymity from facial recognition cameras.

I'm not sure that is a retort that is relevant or accurate. You assume you won't get sick because of issues that there is no science to determine will keep you from contracting the virus (you likely would not die, based on the data, but conflating those things isn't useful on this point, though it is good you likely won't die).

Now we have to assume that the people you believe are wrong are fat and ugly deplorables that will either get sick or die. That strikes me as just a logical fallacy because there is no data to support the statment whatsoever.

Personally, the virus doesn't affect me.

If you feel, personally, that it does affect you or your life in any way, then you are free to wear one.

If granny wants to go to the grocery store, or invite her grandkids over for dinner, then that is entirely her personal choice. Why is it the government's responsibility to keep idiots safe?

So those in society will act irrationally out of fear and do things with no relevance or significance to prepare for something they fear? That might be the best point you've made today, and, interestingly, it supports the fact that mask mandates are panic attempts to control a virus without evidentiary support.
