Remind me. How many times have we used said nukes? (after Japan)

Remind me.... What was it you said about "not going to war with people who have nukes"?

you are literally saying what i am saying. we havent fought a war against russia for a reason, and that isnt going to change any time soon. because MAD has been the guiding policy that has kept it this way. we fully understand what a war with russia will entail, as do they. so its never going to happen

Uh.... No.... You idiot. I'm not. Those we fought fought a county whom had nukes. And some beat a country with nukes. Hi Vietnam.

Of course we've fought against Russia. Proxy wars are still wars brotatochip.

We fully understand what a nuclear war would entail. But a nuclear war will never happen as it will kill everyone. So alas. The game has changed from total war into proxy war.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

This is exrtaordinarily naive. Wars happen even when both sides don't want them to.

and we had about 55 to 60 years where literally every single scenario that would cause a war was going down and we escaped without starting a third war. i have a lot of confidence that if a nuclear holocaust happens, it wont be because of russia

i cant say the same about north korea or iran

Therefore what? We shouldn't concern ourselves with the everpresent dangers? I'm not sure how much you have or haven't read but we very nearly blundered into the type of war that would have destroyed humanity a number of times. Nit just a bad war, one that we ALL knew would destroy humanity and yet still were on the cusp. We owe a lot to chance, a lot more than most would like to acknowledge, not rational policy. Even rational policy making nearly failed to prevent unwanted war. Your conidence of it's impossibility, again, confers naivete. When you put great powers in close proximity under conditions of great intensity and you begin boxing each other in with rhetoric and increased military posturing, events can take control. This is pretty standard IR theory.

I would also view conventional war between the US and Russia over a Syrian civil war to be completely idiotic and in neither country's best interest yet it is all too possible as well depending on events.

i never said this. we absolutely should be prepared for the event of a russian invasion of western europe happening in 10 seconds

my point is that we have a very large amount of evidence that supports the idea that russia understands MAD. therefore, i feel that the odds of an actual war between the US and russia is very small. using the word never was a wrong choice of words. i will concede that. anything can happen given the situations that arise from the adversarial relationship that we have with russia. so yes, using the word never was wrong and a poor choice

I'm not talking about Russia invading Western Europe, I'm talking about U.S. escalation in Syria provoking a shooting war with Russia that can quickly snowball into escalation neither side wants nor can stop, and that includes potential use of nuclear weapons.

It's not being challenged that either side doesn't understand the concept of mutually assured destruction. It's being pointed out that nuclear war is most likely to come about in the context of both sides knowing it's futility and undesirability.

What is unsettling to me is that some who interpret Revelation and Biblical end times prophecy see Russia, Syria and Iran doing battle with Israel in Armageddon. At this point all of those parties are aligned for war, especially if Israel starts bombing in Syria.

Why would go to war with Russia when Trump had been collaborating with them since before the election?

At least that’s what the left has been telling us.

Not saying this is true but have you ever considered the fact that maybe Putin wanted a weak president for the United States in Power?

Israel appears to have flown its jets over the Med and then over Lebanon to strike T4. (ETA: possibly to disguise them as US strike fighters) They also may have launched cruise missiles from their subs in the Med.

Russia is about to get caught with its pants down IMO. Their statements scream of desperation. I don't know if the US will do anything but it's pretty apparent that France is on board.

Our military has been at war for a good 28 years in one place or another. We have a battle hardened military. An overwhelming air corp that has an abundance of combat experience. So does the only consistent blue water navy in the world. Lets just chill out on what they got.

Maybe you missed it but Obama purged our military of combat experience, giving out pink slips to some while they were in theater. Vast majority of people that have come in since 2011 have not been to combat. But it's OK because in America we don't seem to care that such moves will put more people in the ground than ought to be there. I mean, we have to save money on defense spending and why cut out waste when you can just cut people and guarantee that you'll bury more people than you should later on.
