THIS is where cahoots is getting the "2024" BS. They "promised to MOVE TOWARD" doing their in a decade (from 2014)

The language is right here. The 2% is a guideline for total military spending. It's not really NATO-specific. All NATO members are current on their payments to the shared NATO budget. So who is delinquent? How much?

Now where is Trump getting his 90% figure from? Link?

This is the "shared" cost portion.

Exactly who covers almost all of those "shared" costs? Could it be the nation with the largest economy in the world that contributes almost four percent (3.8%) of their GDP, which is almost twice the amount that was agreed upon?

Under no circumstances should one nation cover the shared costs of almost all. That's not an alliance. That's mooching.

bunch of wimps. Not surprising because they don't believe in transparency. Who knew that Germany has a pipeline to Russia getting 70% of their energy and we are paying nato to protect Germany from Russia. Thank You Mr President for uncovering all this bull shite.

Trump told the world that Germany wasn't paying its fair share, should pay its fair share, is paying billions to Russia and something has to change.

What is the problem with that?

Nothing more. Had Obama said the exact same thing, they'd all be declaring him, quite simply, the greatest human being who'd ever lived. "What panache. What gusto it takes to call out Germany like that. He must have HUGE brass balls. My legs are more tingly than ever."

Which is a separate goal for 2024. You simply don't understand how the NATO agreement works.

bullshite. They agreed in 2006 to a guideline of 2% and they haven’t met it because no one has held them accountable.
If we dropped our spend in line with everyone else we could give every man woman and child in the US around $1000.
Europe is literally stealing from our families and dims want it to happen just so Trump will look foolish. Wtf!

From YOUR linked info:

quote:

Allies currently meeting the NATO guideline to spend a minimum of 2% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on defence will aim to continue to do so.

So..it is CURRENTLY (2014) the goal

quote:

Allies whose current proportion of GDP spent on defence is below this level will:

quote:

aim to move towards the 2% guideline within a decade

Exactly as I said. They were NOT meeting the CURRENT (2014) guidelines and the deadbeats promise to "move TOWARD" meeting what was CURRENTLY (2014) the agreement.

Reading is Fundamental. UNDERSTANDING is rare.

Try reading what you linked dumbass. 2% of GDP was decided way before 2014 but our allies have been letting their defense budgets slip, hence this statement from Wales:

We agree to reverse the trend of declining defence budgets, to make the most effective use of our funds and to further a more balanced sharing of costs and responsibilities

So stop with the bullshite talking point about 2024. 2% was around long before 2014, it was just most of our allies were ignoring it...

The US. We entered into such a deal. Trump isn't even pushing to change that part.

deflect all you like, creating turmoil within nato helps russia.

How about spending billions for oil with Russia. Does that help Russia, or hurt Russia?

What a lazy response. Deflect? Pointing out the hypocrisy of the leaders of the party that is the subject of the OP isn't a deflection. It is a precise point that clearly nobody is all that concerned with "helping Russia". It further proves that those who whine about Trump's actions "said helping Russia" are simpletons who don't have the capacity to think past what they are told to think.

2% was agreed upon as a target in 2002.

I would say that Germany has a large hand in making Vladimir Putin a very wealthy man, so who's in Putin's coat pocket?

Go back to 2002, check each countries spending to GDP and figure it up and get back to us...

Your arse has been handed to you multiple times in this thread... I almost feel sorry for you... but I have to admit I am enjoying watching you running into the wall over and over again...

I like how you conveniently ignored the 90% talking point. No one can figure out where that came from.
