House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Friday that a resolution to expel Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is not backed by Democratic leadership.
Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., introduced the resolution Friday to expel the Georgia Republican from Congress over her past controversial social media postings that already prompted her removal from committees.
"Members are very unhappy about what happened here and they can express themselves in the way they do," Pelosi said during a news conference. "What Mr. Gomez did is his own view and that is not a leadership position."
Greene has come under scrutiny for past social media she’s "liked," including one that said "a bullet to the head would be quicker" to remove Pelosi.
Nearly a third of the Democratic caucus, 72 House members, endorsed Gomez’s resolution.
Greene already lost two committee assignments in February after Democrats voted her out for past social media postings.
Gomez said he took "no joy" in bringing forward the resolution but "any member who incites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled."

I mean I’m all for opposing Pelosi, but MTG is an idiot and an embarrassment. Freshman members of Congress are useless as it is, especially ones without decent committee assignments. So she is literally worthless when it comes to representing her constituents

Speaking as one of her constituents, I can safely say she wasn't my first choice.
The problem was that her (fellow Republican) opponent was bought and paid for by China, so it was very much damned if you do and damned of you don't. My choices were a carpetbagger kook (she didn't/doesn't live in the district) or a Chinese stooge.

She was such a strong candidate her competition withdrew. Anyone who replaced her would likely have the same views to get elected.

Well then this is probably a net positive for you then. They don’t want to get rid of her because they have essentially neutered her. She’s an empty desk in the halls of Congress now. She will never get a meaningful committee assignment so she will never have any leverage to bring her legislation to the floor. Why get rid of her and risk having her replaced with somebody that actually understands how government works?
