Speaker Pelosi says ??
@AOC,@IlhanMN,@AyannaPressley,@RashidaTlaib
“have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
AOC with the retarded clapback.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
?
@AOC
That public “whatever” is called public sentiment.
And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country.
@AOC
I find it strange when members act as though social media isn’t important.
They set millions of on to run TV ads so people can see their message.
I haven’t dialed for dollars *once* this year, & have more time to do my actual job. Yet we’d rather campaign like it’s 2008.

The only people that take Twitter seriously are the people on Twitter and that's not very many people.

I'd like to find the person that came up with this term and beat them to death with a baseball bat (wood, not metal)

So Democrats admit that social media is extremely important and can be a deciding factor in elections. No wonder they fully support the idea of kicking all non Democrats off the internet

It's important to young Democrats.

U.S. adult Twitter users are younger and more likely to be Democrats than the general public. Most users rarely tweet, but the most prolific 10% create 80% of tweets from adult U.S. users

I believe he meant that actively participate in dialog on Twitter.
A frick ton of people are ON Twitter. A very very very very SMALL minority, as in single digits, are the ones who actively participate in dialog.

I consider twitter to be a pseudo force multiplier. A bunch of emotion driven people that will forget any "salient" points as they decide which wine to order with their lunch.

Roughly 2% of Twitter users produce 80% of the content.

There are allegedly 330 million Twitter Users worldwide. There are only 126 million, “daily,” users of Twitter. Meaning approximately 1/3 of the US Population Total worldwide logs on or spends time on the platform daily.
This info is per Vox using a Google Search. Doing a deeper dive using a recent study from late 2018 by the Pew Charitable Trust, 10% of Twitter Users create 80% of the total Tweets and interactions on the platform.
Using these statistics, we are talking about 12.6 million people using the platform daily that are creating and driving 80% of said platform’s content.
This isn’t nationwide. This isn’t just in America. This is worldwide. Just over 12.5 million people worldwide.
So no...with other massive platforms like FB, WeChat, Baidu, IG, etc...there are neither a lot of people on Twitter nor is there a ubiquitous, consistent amount of activity amongst its wider user base.
The Pew study indicated that the average user on the platform uses it to communicate twice a month and that amongst the 10% of daily users that drive the 80% of content, they are almost twice as likely to generate their daily content using automated methods (15% compared to 25%).
They also are-predictably-less likely to represent average Americans both demographically and ideologically. But I’ll let you click the link if you wanna learn more about being wrong regarding your take.

AOC is right that her Twitter fame gives her an outsized platform and also a large fundraising base.
But Pelosi is also right that AOC and her posse have no actual power in Congress because of that fame. The "moderate" Dems who actually gave the Dems the House back in 2018 don't want to be associated with AOC and Omar at all. The people they need to court aren't liking AOC's clapbacks on Twitter.
