PayPal will no longer do business with Infowars, according to a post on the conspiracy theory site this morning. PayPal broke the news in an email to Infowars yesterday, saying the company had conducted a comprehensive review of the Infowars site and found that it “promoted hate and discriminatory intolerance against certain communities and religions,” a violation of PayPal’s acceptable use policy. Infowars had used PayPal to process transactions for its on-site store; the site will have ten days to find new payment processors

Say what you will about Alex Jones but this is a watershed moment in censorship in 2018.

This is unprecedented and once Alex is scrubbed off the internet and black balled (much like the Agent in the movie hackers that basically gets deleted) they will go after others.

Now not only social platforms but financial processors are jumping into this?

This needs to be shed light on and derailed or we are in Orwellian territory and that scares the shite out of me.

What precisely did this guy do to be deemed National Pariah No. 1?

I always thought he was just sort of a harmless wackjob, but I've never followed anything he said or did real closely to know for sure.

He mentioned in an interview that Visa and MasterCard dropped him, it's getting ridiculous.

Try to be an independent business without having access to the 2 biggest credit card companies

Literally the easiest reaction. You can yell or act outraged, but just stop using services if you are against their actions.

This is what I don't get. Jones has been on the air, the same schtick for 20+ years.

Why now? What changed? He's done this forever. They want to say he promotes hate and violence but then people that tweet Baron Trump needs to be locked in cages with pedophiles and raped get no reprocussion. It's madness

Something just doesn't add up in all this

Trump is winning and his audience is growing.

Messages of freedom and liberty seem to resonate and the social masters cant have that

I get it, but honestly it doesn't matter. They get to decide how they want to do business.

You have the very same right.

I disagree. The media paints him that way. But he doesn't incite violence. He does say wacky shite but he shouldn't be censored for it and deleted from the internet.

That does not give that company or any company the right to harm his lively hood.

If we accept that, then we will come under rule.

Shouldn't there be some clear examples of this, if he has?

I agree with this. IMO, he's a clown and companies can refuse to do business with him but I don't support censorship of him.

I get this but why now? What has happened where all these services let him be for decades and now they are all banding together to shut him down. This should be a bigger deal than just "they can do that if they want"

100+ platforms have banned him. This should be discussed

He’s a bit of a nut, so he is an easy target.

I have the feeling that he was used to test the waters.

So if the majors stop allowing people they disagree with access to money, you think that is acceptable?

So now a cabal of a few can stop the many from making a living wage based on politics

There is nothing stopping like minded people from starting competition to support those like Jones.

Wow. There used to places for persecuted groups, like the puritans, to go and start anew.

All the world's land is under some government control these days.

There are no free places left to escape to.
