Yes, and currently state officials in Democrat states ignore those laws. The SAVE Act would no longer allow state officials to ignore those laws.

Paxton went 4D Chess here. Very Smart.

Makiing this announcement raises the stakes and gives Paxton skin in the game even more.

If rumors were true that Trump was considering endorsing Cornyn, this at least makes Trump have to reconsider that decision for the good of not only the Senate race between Paxton and Cornyn but also the SAVE act now that a candidate has hitched his wagon to it.

If Thune lifts the filibuster and the SAVE acts passes, then we all win.
