Well our public defenders are terribly unfounded and as a result terribly inept because they don't realize the tools at their disposal. It's pretty sad.

Waiting to go to trial is what it would seem.

That's the point here.

So would this be an issue both parties would agree to fight?

The answer of course is no, because both are taking too many donations from the prison lobby and the prison lobby needs those cells packed.

are you ok with the patriot act?

you can be held without a trial indefinitely, and without even being charged with anything.

Our criminal justice systems official stance is that the poor are treated differently under the law.

It's obvious that those 1000 criminals were so obviously guilty, that a show trial would be a waste of taxpayer money. Why else would they still be there????

Are you ignoring the code of criminal procedure section I cited? I didn't see anything in there about net worth.

Question, are they counting a felon caught on probation or parole committing a violation of their probation/parole while committing another crime?

No person should wait four years for a trial. It doesn't make sense.

Yes but I don't think it is intentional (not that I think you think that).

Unfortunately the poor can't afford someone like me who knows how to use the tools available to put the state in a corner to make a deal.

This argument is silly. Even those that are guilty are sitting incarcerated longer than the potential maximum penalties.

I was at the 19th JDC one day and watched arraignments to kill some time. I saw one guy who was arrested for stealing Walmart gift cards. He’d been in jail for more than two months, and the alleged property value stolen was ~$50. Judge let him go with time served.
