You know what would be really scary?
If he arrested his political opponent four times because he was losing in the polls and charged him with 83 felonies during an election.

Big if true. Imagine if he shut down businesses and churches, made it illegal to go outside, enforced social distancing, and then declared emergency rules for the election

I didn't want to take the abuse from you guys, but I was going to start a thread sort of about this for a few reasons.
- Prof Robert Pape has been doing the rounds on some podcasts about his book about political violence -- he says 30% of the electorate is fine with political violence. I don't think he quite believes Trump will declare martial law, but he predicts massive unrest and shenanigans from whichever side things go bad for in November.
- A couple of writers like Seymour Hersh and Chris Hedges do think Trump is going to call in the stormtroopers in some fashion at the voting booth.

It's eventually going to come down to something akin to martial law. Some of us have been saying it for a long damn time now and nothing has changed that makes that any less likely. If anything, things have only gotten worse on this front. The issue of cleaning up the rampant voter fraud and various other types of fraud that the left uses to prop up their entire party is absolutely something they will throw this country into chaos over in order to keep in their pocket.
We have seen time and again what they are capable of when it comes to orchestrating riots and the like. We will see more of it.

I appreciate your honesty and I do think there is a good discussion to be had about what is the appropriate level of oversight/intervention in elections to ensure they are fair.

It's a national security imperative and should be treated as such. As Jbird included in his OP, the other side has already shown they are willing to arrest a political opponent and charge him with 1,000 million felonies in order to cheat elections. And that isn't even looking at the voter fraud itself.

The federal government should take any/all measures available to ensure that only real, lawful United States citizens are voting in federal elections. Period.
The states can do what they want for state/local elections, but if they do not do everything they can to comply with the requirements for the federal elections, then don't be surprised when the DOJ comes calling.
