People are not being told that the Republican Party is on track to pick up two seats in the U.S. Senate, and epic victory: 53 to 47. The Fake News Media only wants to speak of the House, where the Midterm results were better than other sitting Presidents.

Isn't that untrue? Dems flipped the most house seats in awhile I thought.

Only as related to other democratic gains. Republicans have done much better...e.g. 2012

it's the least amount of turnover in quite a while.

it's been 150 years since the house stayed with the party of a sitting president in the first mid term election.

Not for a first term President which is when you usually see the pendulum swing away from his party pretty strong.

If you want a real wave, look back at what the Rs did in 2010 in the House (+63) and Senate (+6 -- although Dems still controlled a narrow lead). That was a true wave. This was Dems doing about average in the House and getting soundly defeated in the Senate.

Plus, they lost in some key battleground States: Ohio Governor and in Florida Governor and they lost a Senate seat. Those are going to be huge boons for Trump in 2020.

To be fair the Dems were defending seats in some pretty red states this cycle. They only had two realistic pickup opportunities NV & AZ. They even made TX competitive this year.

Didn't this board go crazy about how dems celebrate losses as 'moral victories'.

Republican senatorial candidates got massively outvoted in total but picked up 3 seats... about one third of the country's population will control 53% of our most powerful elected body. This is democracy?

The Senate is antiquated, although I recognize it will never change. In the meanwhile, any time you hear somebody from one of those smaller states like Wyoming and Utah argue that they should have more ownership and control over the huge Federal land tracts in their states just say bullshite. A Wyoming voter has about five times the electoral power as a Californian... they should at least have to pay a price for that... the price that was part of their original negotiation for statehood.
