The main point I've tried to make in this thread is I don't think you've got quite the bead on the american people that you think you do.

Again, we'll see in November. Until then, I recommend praising civility when trump shows some rather than praising his more childish antics.

Hey I'll be the first to tell you that I am a hypocrite at times. We all are. I try to recognize and own it, and I sometimes point out when others should do the same for themselves.

I like honesty, and it's hard to be honest with others if you're not even honest with yourself.

I have never, ever said that President Trump is demonstrating any form of civility whatsoever. Make an honest argument. No one on the Left has any place to state that their actions have been any more noble than his. The entire system is reprehensible. And the American people know this. And they will decide accordingly.

Joe Biden does not have even the most remote chance of being president. He can barely form a coherent sentence on a consistent basis. I personally think the Democratic Party is carefully trying to position Governor Cuomo for a last minute bid. And I do think he has a chance to unseat President Trump if he positions himself as a centrist.

Sorry, no sale. I have been consistent in my argument. Integrity is the bedrock of my profession.

No, but you have said that civility is important to you. And you complain about a lack of civility on the part of the media, but refuse to call out trump's lack of civility. In fact, it seemingly makes you want to vote for him more.

I'm not making an argument at all! I have said numerous times that I'm just here giving a warning: this board does NOT represent America. While you and others here don't fault trump at all for the things he says and does, others do.

Sadly, he has a much better chance than you believe, I'm afraid. That is how badly Trump is alienating people other than his base, and he can't win with his base alone. Also you underestimate the number of people who would absolutely never vote trump, but who stayed home 4 years ago because they didn't think he had a chance. Trump has motivated the frick out of those people.

Practically anyone would have a better chance than Biden. Biden is Trump's best chance to win, and I put it around 50/50 at this point.

Now, if Trump would show even the slightest bit of maturity he could put it away.

HE IS HANDLING matters of global importance without his feelings getting in the way. But you CHOOSE to ignore it. I guess b/c you don't like Trump fighting back. Or the style with which he responds.

So you really & truly ARE:
style over substance
process over results

Which will ultimately lead to fascism over freedom. What the hell do you think the democrats will do with power!?

maybe the press and the president should be held to slightly different standards.

Why? Shouldn't the press be held to a higher standard (in terms of reporting) than a president...who is, afterall, a politician. We know all politicians lie to a degree. Why does the press get a pass? The American people depend on them (or at least used to). Half the country doesn't even like the president.

I'm talking about a higher standard in terms of conduct.

Show respect, get respect. Crazy how that works.

When did the press EVER show Trump respect? He was being gaslit since election day. Not inauguration: ELECTION DAY!!!

Guess if they wanted respect, they should have shown some. Crazy how that works, huh?

Sure! Me too! Works both ways but different obligations.
President: running the country
Press: informing the country
I'd venture to say the press has more of a responsibility in being fair, balanced, truthful, and relentless in investigation. The press is around long before & after any president.

Got a link to someone in the media being disrespectful? There are plenty examples of Trump calling someone "fake news" simply because he didn't like the question.

Great, as long as we all understand that "fair" doesn't mean they shouldn't be meanies to anyone. And "balanced" doesn't mean positive and negative stories in equal measure. Nor does it mean positive stories about dems and repubs in equal measure. Because that last one, "truthful", determines what "fair" and "balanced" mean.

and relentless in investigation
Oh yeah, because trump just loves when they investigate relentlessly! "Fake news!"

Maybe "call out" wasn't a good choice of words. I'm trying to differentiate between recognizing the lack of civility and actually giving a frick about it.

You did say civility is important to you, right?
