They are not our Leaders.. just representatives.. people treat them like they are special, above us somehow.. like elites. this is something that needs to change

I keep hearing that back in March and April we were telling our people in Afghanistan, the civilians, to get out now. June. Nothing.July. Nothing. And yet it looks like 30,40, 50,000 (?) Americans not counting locals who are helping or the military, ignored all those warnings and stuck around.
Why ?
Either they really weren’t told to leave, or somebody was telling them they really had to stay. Were there hazard pay bonuses offered the longer they stayed? I just don’t understand any of this.
