Again, congrats on the high earning wife! As a proud Puerto Rican, I’m curious why you, your wife and both of your successes don’t go home and make your island or her shithole homeland a better place by being a living example of success for your compatriots to emulate?

Because we are Americans. Our lives, our loyalties are here.

Are you under the impression that we aren’t grateful to be Americans? Nothing could be further from the truth. I’m not arguing that life in those countries is better, but frick getting characterized as a leech based solely on where I’m from.

This. This is the problem with all the teat suckers. You come here and claim "pride" for another place, make a nice income/life here, and then show no motivation to go back and make that place better. You leave it a shite hole.

If your loyalties are here, why can't you understand why seeing another flag is not perceived as one taking pride. What's to take pride in?

One day, with help, you may be able to read good.

Now re-read what I wrote and objectively consider whether your comment makes any sense at all.

He's saying no, they are not entitled to everything a US citizen is promised, bc they don't pay into the govt that funds it. It's really not that hard, but I understand how lefties don't think when it comes to every one else's money.

And by what logic is that? So if I don’t pay income tax, I am not owed the same protections, rights and benefits that other citizens are owed? Correct me if I’m mistaken here, but that is complete idiocy. A lot of people don’t pay income tax for many reasons. By what genius Poli Board logic are they not full citizens?

Help me out here because this just seems like right wing crazy town talk.

Saying something offensive on Twitter is not a “win.” Any idiot can say something mean on Twitter, as the OP starkly illustrates.

What he is saying is true... You have an island of 3.2 million people who are 75 billion in bond debt and have 50 billion in unfunded liabilities. That is insane and their politicians are idiots. I don't see it as offensive ,but if it is than sometimes people need to be offended especially if they are spending to oblivion and then are using a natural disaster to get more money.

I was explaining where I thought he was coming from.

If it were up to me, anyone on welfare or that does not contribute to the pot wouldn't get a vote. So I'm not the one to ask.

And here is the real reason people like Jorts and his wife don't go back. All those idiot politicians would take all their money through taxes.

So you want me to go back and what? Be a revolutionary? My mother is from Brasil. Should I just flip a coin to decide which country to go back and help?

I’m genuinely curious. What action would you take if you were in my shoes?

So what is your expectation? That any one that’s not a native born American lower their head in shame? I don’t run around waving a Puerto Rican flag but I can appreciate a celebration of the culture. The food, the music, etc. It’s certainly not out of contempt for the US.

You took exception to me saying I was sick of seeing other flags here. Called me triggered. Nowhere did I say that culture shouldnt be celebrated.

But if this country is so great, each and every immigrant should have an American flag decal in place of whatever foreign flag they proudly display. This is a country of great opportunity. Not the shite hole they came from.

And yes, Puerto Ricans are regarded and thought of as immigrants bc they act as a foreign territory. What they get from the US is just like foreign aid. It isn't paid back. Puerto Ricans don't pay federal taxes. They only contribute locally, but rely on the US to bail them out. Just like the rest of the south American countries with people who are coming here in droves.

Actually it’s because in my line of work it makes sense for me to be in a large international hub like Miami.

Oh, and I do pay some tax in PR.

Does your wife pay taxes, federal or otherwise?

Look, I understand your point. Anybody in this country should thank God every day that they are here. We can agree on that. I probably went in a little aggressive with the triggered comment.

And again, I’m not saying the current arrangement between the US and PR makes the most sense from the US-perspective, but it’s an arrangement that has largely been decided by the US.

I’m not arguing that there aren’t leeches. I’m just arguing we aren’t all leeches. I think you can reasonably agree to that point.
