I strongly believed that the media was overplaying their hand to create the sense that it was a fait accompli. I also , was shocked and amazed at Wikileaks, Pizza-gate, etc. It was clear to me that the cultural backlash was solidified. Guys on this board were posting about how Wikileaks had not delivered and I felt it was exactly the opposite. I felt like Clinton's karma had finally caught up to her, probably a decade later than it should have.
Still, a part of me was fatalistic. Mrs Pimp was extremely anxious. I was aware of my own anxiety. It was very strange. So I sat down with Mrs. Pimp, we imagined a Clinton victory, and separated how it would effect the country/our kids futures from how it would effect us personally. We agreed to double down on our business and keep the kids focused and that we would just "unplug", not only from the tv and internet, but from the larger culture. We agreed to focus on family and commerce and if we lost to just keep our heads down and focus on things within our control. We agreed to embrace dissident status.
On election day I told Mrs. Pimp that I felt optimistic that the rust belt would save us. I felt the "frick yeah, Trump!" voters might save us as I have them in my own family in western PA, upstate NY and Fl. These are old-school Union Democrat-types and they were engaged for the first time since Reagan. This gave me hope.
I said a silent prayer. I'm agnostic.
So it was a very disorganized and un-poetic prayer, probably more like a Buddhist mantra then a proper Christian prayer. I literally said a prayer on my couch, which amused me to no end, turned on my computer and the tv. I was filled with a sense of peace and optimism. I went to the NYT website (absolute money) and spent one of the most joyful evenings of my life. It was obvious to me early that America was in a feisty mood.
I have not been this optimistic about American prospects since the 1990's. I'm just very relieved and happy. And grateful to all those who fought the good fight.

I made a gumbo, opened a bottle of red and sat glued to the television from the time the polls closed until 3am. Couldn't stop watching. The most amazing and bizarre election night any of us have ever seen (or will likely ever see). I will never forget that night as long as I live.

Anyone else remember the tidal wave of "We should've nominated Rubio/Kucksich" posts when it looked like Hillary would win Florida? Good times.

Extended family in Buffalo, NY that are die-hard Union Democrats and they were the loudest Trump supporters on my Facebook newsfeed.

What I really remember is walking Establishment types through their anxiety as patiently as possible. I was truly flabbergasted by them. My eyes were opened like never before, particularly when my beloved National Review had a temper tantrum and waved at us from behind as we went to The Front. I could not believe that guys like Jonah Goldberg could be that obstinate and flamingo-like. I had absolute clarity about every political camp in America and I could not believe that so many refused to understand the nature of what was a huge Cultural moment. This was what we've been waiting for guys. This is your moment. I felt like shaking people. I think I did shake Lou Pai. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I voted early here in Atlanta and then headed for NYC to attend a broadcast conference starting the day after the election in the Javitts Center. I was staying in the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, so about halfway between the 2 scheduled victory parties.
The early news was disappointing, so I walked down the street, sat a a sushi bar and started to drown myself in sake. At around 8:30-9:00 I looked up at the TV in the sushi place and could tell something weird was going on.
I gulped down the rest and headed back to the room channel surfing to watch the MSNBC and CNN especially to see he show unfold. Stayed up until 3:30 am in joyous disbelief.
The broadcast trade show the next day was surreal to say the least. I took a short video of workers dismantling the Clinton victory pavilion in the Javitts :)

I went to the movies because I couldn't bare to see Hillary elected. That's how sure I was she would be elected.
When I got out of the movie, I begrudgingly checked my phone. To my shock, Trump already had a sizable lead. I couldn't fathom how Trump did it, so I couldn't wait to get home and check the results. I didn't trust the results on my phone.
Needless to say, I was glued to the TV and this board until the wee hours in the morning. Until I saw Trump's victory speech and Clinton's concession speech.
I still come on this board several times a day to watch Libs melt.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)
