You are creating a false issue.
I didn't create it. Go back and read how a SG supporter brought it up as an example of how SG is being mistreated.

I'm saying do what nobody on the SG leadership is saying they want to invorporate because of the current budget that you declare fair.

I will say the BR city folk say they will be a big loser without SG tax revenues.

Quote There is no screwing of the unincorporated area by the city. In fact, the SG area pays a small fraction of the total property taxes paid in EBR. Not a single one of the top ten property tax payers are in St George. Take out the sales & gambling taxes collected from shoppers/gamblers from all over the area at the MoL, L'Auberge & Perkins Rowe (which is going to happen) and St George has a miniscule tax base compared to the parish as a whole.
This is the last time I will repeat these obvious facts.Quote
Great, take all your top ten and well take our "leftovers" and let's call it even OK?
I think we will manage just fine.
Now on the other hand after we take our leftovers , the anti SG folk say they will be 50+ million dollars short. How is is that?
We are taking just the leftovers, right?

The original ISD they proposed did not contain any of the huge sales tax producers. They changed the lines and now all of a sudden those taxes "belong to them"? Haha

Did Moss say he supported SG incorporation? He is just one person like myself who does not represent SG leadership.
Did a SG leader bemoan the budget process ? Maybe so, but I can't recall it being a big issue. Schools and local control are.

'all say "so what" when the fairness claims were brought up by y'all. If it's only about school, then don't complain about the funneling of money issues.
Those aren't mutually exclusive.
What St. George residents are finding is that, not only is incorporation needed in order to get an ISD, but that there is also a yearly transfer of 50M from the parish fund to the city fund.
The ISD is absolutely the core issue. In fact, as I've opined earlier, if an ISD was offered today, the incorporation effort would go away...even given the other issues.
But, that doesn't change the absolute truth that 50M is being taken from the parish fund.

You asked about bringing up the fairness. Someone like you brought it up. Not someone arguing on my side. Nobody said anything about leadership.
And I've said before, I support an ISD.

The sales taxes are NOT "SG tax revenues."
Not until SG incorporates then a portion of the sales taxes will remain in SG.

the anti SG folk say they will be 50+ million dollars short.
One last time: include the sales tax collections from the MoL & Perkins Rowe and the casino taxes from L'Auberge and there is NO $50 million "short" for Baton Rouge.
ST GEORGE CITIZENS ARE NOT PAYING ALL OR EVEN THE MAJORITY OF THOSE TAXES.
And SG will never get those taxes, just as I have been saying since last year.

Bottom line is the St George supporters have followed the rules for incorporation. And now the threat is so real, those who benefit from St. George are now trying to change the rules. Its so ludicrous theres no way Bobby doesn't veto this...he's already indicated he would. No way he let's the black caucus pull this crap.

The original ISD was defeated. In fact two efforts were shot down.
Now it's a different ball game. It appears to me SG organizers saw that other neighborhoods wanted in a new school system and the new city that was necessary to get the schools
Logically by law the sales taxes go yo the legal entity. If that's SG then so be it.

Well, unfortunately for the St. George residents, your opinion isn't shared by the St. George opposition.

Read the report prepared by Dr Richardson. He said 50+ million short, not me.
Did I dream that up? No, it's in the media every other day it seems.
But the budget is fair, we know our leftovers aren't going to hurt BR. They will still have their fair share of the dollars , right ?

Dr Richardson's report assumed the status quo in BR's city limits. Is it really that difficult for you to comprehend the context of his report?

I don't know what Jindal will fo , but SG had followed the law and had tried to work in the system as best they can despite roadblock after roadblock thrown in their path.
All these opponents discussing fairness is simply ridiculous when you realize how the people against SG have used unfair (but legal) tactics yo discourage them and stop them cold. What a joke!
Telling us it's all fair, stay put, don't incorporate but please don't leave us 50 million dollars short!!!!!!!

I'm dreaming and you're basing your entire argument on what might happen???? And I'm the idiot here?
It seems to me that it's tough enough to deal in the knowns rather than to try and guess the future,

You seem to clump the entire government of Baton Rouge in with the state legislature when making your points. Baton Rouge didn't stop the ISD. They don't have the authority to grant or deny that. The state does.
The bills being passed now, again, are not done by the metro council. Baton Rouge is simply trying to protect it's interests and tax base.
