I hate how we have this false dichotomy between the employed population: “workers” vs mean corporate people, investors, entrepreneurs, etc

Labor is labor whether it is based on physical exertion or mental financial strategy

All these Labor Day parades seem to be all about hard hat, big muscle dudes

It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that’s why they call me
They call me the workin’ man

I remember when carpenters had big muscles. Not any more. Power tools.

Lost me right there.

There's not a legitimate conservative out there that doesn't believe in a strong manufacturing sector (ie: lots of blue-collar jobs), but to state that all management is useless is as fricking ridiculous as stating all blue collar jobs are useless.

Management creates and executes the contracts that create orders for those blue collar workers. Management makes sure those workers get paid and management decisions are what allow a business to expand, thus making room for more blue collar workers and more opportunity for the pay of those workers to increase.

I don't think your going to find much even-handed and erudite insight in to managerial technocracy from Chicken Soup for the Soul, man. It's just an affirmation to working joes that they know what they're doing.

On this day I think of the guys with wrenches in hand toiling on the dusty plains of the STX oil fields and this song comes to mind: Salt of the Earth

Let's just raise a glass to the hard working people and stop the bitching.

I agree, just dislike the concept of "idle big wigs"

The laborers’ complaint is as old as the hills. Get over it.
