we had that with covid.
our sherrif ignored public gatherings and eatery issues. he won reelection nov 22 and resigned immediately after.

While I agree with their perspective, it might make more sense to quietly not enforce the law rather than make a newsworthy statement drawing attention to themselves.

No, make the messagge clear. Much like the vast majority of Illinois sheriffs that are refusing to enforce the recently signed AWB. It puts the lie to these laws as being "pro law enforcement" when the law enforcement doesn't want it.
