What's the role of a local sheriff in this?

Most of Arkansas is the same way. Sheriffs are refusing at county level to enforce. Pretty interesting to watch.

ATF can’t make law. They can make regulations at best. Congress can make laws - if signed by the president.

My local sheriff here in SE Oklahoma is about the closest thing you'll get to John Wayne.

Johnny Christian has made Bryan County a 2nd Amendment sanctuary county and he wiistand by that.

Hes a damn good shooter as well. I think he's won the Oklahoma Sheriff's gun competition for several years now.

"ATF's rule"

Is this a law? Was it passed by legislation?

Federal law restricts marijuana and states have said F no to that. A ruling doesn't make it law. The bureaucrats making this shite up need to be throw out on their collective asses. This goes for ATF, EPA, and any other agencies thay have overstepped their Constitutianal bounds.

There are several cabinet level agencies and many others that need to be shuttered and ATF is at the top of my list. Goodbye ATF

Their entire history is one of making vague rules and steady encroachments on the 2nd Amendment. It's shameful that people taking an oath to the Constitution think it's appropriate to behave the way the ATF does.

The ATF has done a lot of damage to the trust and faith that the People have in our federal government. The only way to begin repairing it is to get rid of the ATF.

When I decided to run for President, I was hoping "reform" would be the best way forward. The more I looked at things, the more I realized that will not fix things, especially when you consider the nosedive in trust the People have for the federal government. Saying, "We'll get it right next time" is falling on deaf ears. Even worse, the government often says, "We're right. We're the government. Like it or don't like it, we don't care." This attitude is really driving a wedge and it's corrosive. We have to close the doors on many of these agencies and just move forward.

Stop fighting a losing battle. Oklahoma is the last place in America to raise your cattle and be left the frick alone.

I'm 47, retired and don't leave my cattle ranch unless its to go fish at Lake Texoma.

Cities have been openly ignoring immigration law for years. Why not this law too?

Fedgov too.

And don't forget drug laws and defense of marriage.

That's a consequence of shifting away from a rule of law culture.

Yep, like the EPA ruling, this rule is unconstitutional. Fed Agencies can’t create law, that’s Congress’s job, so it’s just waiting to be challenged and axed. Think about having to enforce this, knowing it’s an illegal rule, passed by an Agency that delegates an authority it doesn’t have….

Came here to say exactly this!!! This is spot on. But, this has been Congress’s MO for the last course of decades. They have been delegating power to these regulatory agencies, and other agencies, and let them put rules in place that have zero chance of being passed through legislation. Sad thing is, a lot of people believe that these agencies can make laws, and as such, follow them. It’s a way for Congress to control us without controlling us; a function of a bloated government.

Encouraging to see things like this. Kudos to them and I believe some Illinois sheriffs were doing something similar as well.
