I understand completely.

In which state do you reside?

It doesn't help I reside in two states...

LA and SC, both have average income taxes but I get killed on property taxes and SC has property taxes on other personal property like boats and cars. In the past the lower insurance rates and the fact you paid basically no sales tax on cars in SC meant I registered all my vehicles there, I will have to do a cost/benefit to decide which home to register them in the future depending on how this pans out. I may have to restructure my loans on the homes to best take advantage with the new plan. As it stands one is paid off and the other has a large loan simply for the tax benefits since that money makes more money in other places. I will just have to see the final language before I decide what to do.

So this is one giant headache for you then.

Like they say, mo’ money mo’ problems.

I’m sure you’ll figure it out, you’ve got a year. Good luck.

As you can probably guess, I didn’t vote for any of this frickery, so whatever. All that matters is Cheeto Face throwing his mouth breathing denizens a bone I guess.

The value of the home is not of issue, as I am sure you know. It is the amount of the loan. New loan interest deductions will cap at 500k but loans in effect at the beginning of the tax year this proposal impacts (2018?) will be grandfathered in unto 1m.

You are correct. I didn't have a chance to look at it until an hour ago. I was in court most of the day.

This tax plan is one of the few things that I approve of under this administration if it stands as written today.... for my family anyway.

I think Trump is an idiot, but I have no problem with the reform. I also know he had nothing to do with it

That’s a pretty stupid statement. He in fact had everything to do with it. If he wasn’t president, we’d be talking about letting in 30 million more illegal immigrants, not taxes.

Tigersfan64, can you explain to me how the bill is weighted towards the rich?

Why should I have to explain it? It's obvious, and all you need to do is read any OBJECTIVE (not something you'd find on Fox News) analysis of the plan. It does away with the federal estate tax which ONLY the wealthy pay ($5.5 million exemption for individuals and $11 million exemption for couples on anything you inherit), for one thing (Trump and the Walton family will love that), and the lowering of rates on pass-through income will benefit a whole lot of rich owners of their own company (such as Trump; this will definitely benefit him and his family).

Deficits and debt don't matter anymore.

They do according to the supposedly "fiscal conservatives" in the Republican Party who constantly shrieked about them when President Obama was in office. Then they magically DON'T matter when the Republicans gain power, like they have now. Can you say rank hypocrisy? It definitely applies to Republicans.

people who own expensive homes will not get the deduction in mortgages

It's dubious that that will remain in the bill. The homebuilders lobby is already screaming about it.

Now THAT'S a stupid statement. I can see you are a regular watcher of Faux News and an avid listener of the lying blowhard, Rush Limppaw.

A progressive that is okay with a tax break to boost economic growth and middle class spending power!

This is the first step.

Next week you'll say something like "You know, Trump is sort of right on this particular issue....."

Then you'll come out as a reluctant Trump voter.
