I guess time will tell. I'm not furloughed and a wall is nothing to me. But this is reality and in reality this statement was made: “I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. … I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.”

He's absolutely the one who shut it down. Now it's up to AngryGrandma & AngryGrandpa in Congress to open it back up by providing funding for the wall.

Actually I did a quick search of Trump's comments on government shutdown. That first one cannot be verified and I won't claim he made that. I apoligize for posting it beforehand. The others I posted are fact and pretty conclusive to who Trump thinks is responsible for government shutdown. And Trump is right. He is to blame no matter how you slice it. He refuses to pay workers because he isn't getting a couple hundred miles of his vanity project funded. This is the reality of it. Do I care? Not particularly, but it is the truth.

You're right but from what I see is they have the majority support on this. And the longer it stays closed then the more people are going to look for a single source of it. That ultimately falls on Trump. He is not suggesting funding by other means (national emergency) for no reason. He's looking for ways to spin this as a win. And for his base he will always get a win no matter what happens.

You need to stop hanging out at the airport terminals, because that's the only place I know that shows CNN on the regular.

That is some serious echo chamber, head-in-the-sand, fingers-in-your-ears, la-la-la-la denial.

The dems are gonna lose and lose big on this obstructionism.

Does the talking points email go out EXACTLY at 4am, or does it run a little late if the Mockingbird lackey oversleeps?

Trump won't sign anything that doesn't pay for the couple hundred miles of wall. Doesn't make sense to me but oh well.

And when he vetos a bill it will become his fault. But he has not been presented a bill to sign or veto. Therefore it's Congress' fault until such time.

Bingo. Cocaine Mitch has told that awful harridan on the other side of the building that they're not even going to vote on anything that doesn't include wall funding, so this is squarely on Pelosi.

She's the one who fricked up the negotiation meeting the other day, anyway.

Liar. You don’t really believe that. You’re just saying it now because it’s convenient.

Unfortunately for you, the American public is blaming the Democrats for the shutdown

As they should. They are doing this for a tiny fraction of the budget.

Why fight this? If you don’t care, what way does the existence of a border fence actually impact your life negatively?

Trump has already spoken on this. It’s the president who is responsible. Trump even said this shutdown was on him.

Why try to twist his words after the fact?

I don't give two shits what Trump said. I'm talking which part of the government is responsible for funding or not funding the continued operation of said government.

But if you want to play this game...ok.

Do you also agree the shutdown in 2013 was Obama's fault?

You proggies are in such lockstep with your talking points. Three of you quoting the exact same thing, which has absolutely nothing to do with who is responsible for a government shutdown.

So now what Trump says is gospel? Interesting.

I'll ask you the same thing: Was Obama at fault for the 2013 shutdown?

I see who I'm dealing with now.
