You don't need a fishing license to fish in a pond or lake on your own property because they can't move (although some down south know this a false statement due to hurricanes). The thinking on licensing to hunt on your own property is due in part because almost all animals are mobile and did not strictly feed / were born on your property.

That’s a valid distinction of course

I can't believe they require a fishing license.

Hey Casey...one is a Constitutional right and one isn't....need help on which one is which? Dumb frick.

And to add to that… could you imagine the laugh you would have gotten by the founding fathers if you could go back and tell them that the government will one day require you to get a license to hunt and fish?

Even though they foretold the inevitable want to restrict and ban guns… they wouldn’t have thought that you would ever need a license to fish and hunt.

Hunting and fishing licenses serve their purpose by preserving resources. Maybe he wants license fees to go to preserving the 2nd.

It's not a license to fish, it's a tax to fish.

Pretty much anything that can move off your property is a "public resource"

You cant take frogs or turtles on private land either without permit. Because they migrate out of the area.

Fish stuck in your own pond arent going anywhere. They yours.

It at least follows logic.

the other is a privilege
how do you figure that. it's a tax to catch our own fish, genius. we are the government we shouldn't be paying a tax to fish

I see nothing wrong with it? Don't mind paying for the fishing license if the money is actually going back to ensuring the resource is sustained. There should never be a license associated with a constitutional right.
