An Air Force officer whose fighter jet had been shot down in Iran was rescued by U.S. Special Operations forces in a risky Saturday night mission that took commandos deep into enemy territory.

A senior U.S. military official described the mission to rescue the airman as one of the most challenging and complex in the history of U.S. special operations.

The mission to save the crew member employed hundreds of special forces troops, dozens of U.S. warplanes, helicopters, and cyber, space and other intelligence capabilities.

U.S. attack aircraft dropped bombs and opened fire on Iranian convoys to keep them away from the area where the airman was hiding. As U.S. forces converged on the downed airman, a firefight erupted, two former senior military officials briefed on the operation said.

The airman was equipped with a beacon and a secure communication device for coordinating with forces mounting the rescue.

A senior U.S. military official described the mission to rescue the airman as one of the most challenging and complex in the history of U.S. special operations.

In a final twist after the weapons officer was rescued, two transport planes that would carry the commandos and the airmen to safety got stuck at a remote base in Iran. Commanders decided to fly in three new planes to extract all the U.S. military personnel and the airmen, and they blew up the two disabled planes rather than have them fall into Iranian hands.

We apparently identified some obscure disused landing strip in Iran relatively near this Officer, secured it and the area around it using helicopters, elite fighters and paratroopers, and A10s, and landed two giant fricking C130s with more elite fighters and rescue personnel.

Fought our way to the officer in the mountains using elite soldiers and air cover from the aforementioned A10s and Blackhawks, brought him back to the C130s only for them to be stuck in the sand and unable to take off. Brought in two more C130s and landed them, loaded everyone up and headed out. Last guys on the ground laid explosives and blew up the two stuck C130s on the way out the door.

All while not losing a single American. Badass.

A senior Trump administration official told me that prior to locating the weapons systems officer and the U.S. military rescue operation, the CIA first launched a deception campaign spreading word inside Iran that U.S. forces had already found him and were moving him on the ground for exfiltration out of the country
??The official said the CIA used its unique capabilities to search for - and find - the weapons systems officer. "This was the ultimate needle in a haystack but in this case it was a brave American soul inside a mountain crevice, invisible but for CIA's capabilities", the official said
??According to the official the CIA immediately shared the pilot's exact location with the Pentagon, the U.S. military and The White House
??The President ordered an immediate rescue mission, which the Pentagon executed, with the CIA continuing to provide real time information in support of this mission, the official said

The US Military just sent men deep into enemy territory. An enemy once regarded as a regional power, significant enough that engaging them could trigger World War 3.

Instead, they rescued the two pilots without suffering a single death nor injury.

The only aircraft Iran has touched, and all they did was cause the same sort of property damage we suffer in training exercises.

Unbelievable.

He had an emergency tracking beacon and secure comms, but this sounds like something different. My guess would be real-time satellite video feed capable of zooming in at a much higher resolution than disclosed to the public?

Having a hard time imagining what else this could possibly mean

According to a senior administration official:

Prior to locating the WSO (Weapons System Officer) and the US military’s daring rescue, the CIA first launched a deception campaign spreading word inside Iran that U.S. forces had already found him and were moving him on the ground for exfiltration out of the country.

While the Iranians were confused and uncertain of what was happening, the Agency used its unique, exquisite capabilities to search for -- and find -- the American airman. This was the ultimate "needle in a haystack," but in this case it was a brave American soul inside a mountain crevice, invisible but for CIA's capabilities.

The CIA immediately shared the WSO’s exact location with the Pentagon and The White House.

The President ordered an immediate rescue mission, which CENTCOM executed with boldness and precision, with CIA continuing to provide real time information.

While not a huge CIA fan, if they supported the rescue effort then kudos to them.

I am a HUGE fan of the crews that went into a hostile area and frigging landed huge planes and some kick arse soldiers to extract that airman.

Regrouped after a snafu and completed the mission. Bravo you bad arse m frickers!

President Donald J. Trump just pulled off something NO other Commander in Chief in HISTORY has ever done… TWO separate Combat Search and Rescue Operations, deep inside ENEMY TERRITORY in Iran, and brought BOTH of our incredible Warriors home ALIVE… without losing a SINGLE American life in the process!

The Fake News DESPERATELY wanted this to be a bad story for President Trump. The FAILING media said it couldn't be done. The weak, pathetic Democrats were already writing their little speeches. The mullahs were RACING through the mountains to get to our Colonel first… and they LOST. They will ALWAYS lose!

While the "experts" on CNN were predicting doom… President Trump was in the Situation Room with Secretary Hegseth and Chairman Caine, directing DOZENS of aircraft… armed with the most LETHAL weapons on Earth… straight into the heart of Iran.

And guess what? IT WORKED. PERFECTLY!

This is what REAL leadership looks like... Not Biden leaving Americans behind in Afghanistan like a total embarrassment to this Nation… not Obama paying RANSOM to these same Iranian terrorists… but President Donald J. Trump sending in the CAVALRY and bringing our Warriors HOME!

To the brave Colonel and his fellow Pilot… America loves you. Your Commander in Chief NEVER forgot you. NOT FOR ONE SINGLE SECOND!

Iran… you had your chance. You know what comes next. The clock is TICKING!

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS. GOD BLESS AMERICA. AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

Now that all our men are accounted for, it's time to kill any and every Iranian leader we can find, which based on the war thus far, is probably everyone still alive.

Those rescue/combat troops have to be pumped up right now. Cant imagine the adrenaline being pumped into them to actually get to go into that area and perform a function that they have trained for.

Mission accomplished and others are now forewarned of what may come.

Not just denied them a propaganda victory— no American lives were lost, & we left behind a huge number of dead, dying & wounded IRGC & Basij. We literally assembled on zero notice a hasty airfield INSIDE IRAN that facilitated this mission as well.

Humiliating & crushing defeat for the regime.

I cannot overstate how significant the rescue of the second crew member from the downed F-15E is. The op denied Tehran a major propaganda victory, stripping it of leverage it could have used to shape negotiations to end to the war on its terms.

Bravo to the rescuers involved.
