My dislike of these left wing "talking points" is that they're spreading pro-Iranian propaganda, and have been doing so since day one. In their ardor to discredit Trump, they've actually tried to undermine the US war effort with propaganda. Some even admit the extent of their TDS in this context, like Tom Friedman of the NY Times who said he couldn't root for US success against Iran because it would help Trump. The fact that he's still employed is quite revealing.

In various places I've read things like this (just a few of many examples), not just in this thread or other social media, but sometimes in the mainstream US media:

If Trump hadn't dropped out of the JCPOA, this wouldn't have happened - false, because of severe site limitations the inspectors had no ability to verify that Iran was cooperating. Everything just moved to different sites.

Iran didnt have highly enriched uranium - false

Not enough to make a bomb - false, they had enough for almost a dozen. They had rapidly increased their rate of production in 2023 and 2024.

They weren't close to being able to make a bomb - very likely false, once the fissile material is available, a bomb can be made in a few weeks. China did it 60 years ago and they are Iran's ally.

My favorite: Trump lied about "obliterating" Iran's nuclear capacity: True. He did lie because now we know that they started planning for a more comprehensive attack on Iran's nuclear capacity (and IRCG/militia) almost immediately after "Midnight Hammer". The planning and coordination with Israel for the next phase continued for months prior to starting the January deployment. Meanwhile, during that entire period Trump continued telling that same lie repeatedly, right up until two weeks before Epic Fury (“… achieving total obliteration of the Iran nuclear potential capability — totally obliterated.”, February 13, 2026). CNN even did an entire article documenting how many times he said it leading up to Epic Fury, and then questioned why he lied. Obviously, it was intentional disinformation. We blunted their immediately nuclear capability and then planned and deployed for phase II.

Iran didn't start this war - false, as I posted recently and has been documented countless times in global media, Iran and their foreign militia have been conducting an undeclared war for decades. And with help from China, they've been preparing to control the flow of Middle East oil/gas for the entire time. Their goal was to make any attempt to stop their militant ambitions prohibitively risky, via threat to disrupt energy flows (Gulf, Red Sea, pipelines, refineries) and ultimately nuclear capacity. With active help from China (why, oh why would China do that?), and considering Europe and the UK's passive stance, they may have succeeded.

The US has no national interest here, only entered this war because of Israel - false, and so absurdly ignorant in light of what China/Iran have been doing, in the middle east, South America and elsewhere, that our "news media" should have destroyed this talking point immediately. But they didn't and that's very concerning.

My real hope our intelligence or possibly Israel's is on top of this and we lay waste to the delivery. That would be demoralizing to the Iranians.

To be honest given our history of military conflicts post WW11... this has kind of been on the above average job. We normally commit massive force out the gate then get stuck which leads to casualties.
The reason we get stuck is because our political class hasn't had the fortitude to get the job done by doing what needs to be done since the 1940's.

I think its some sort of perceived guilt from dropping the bombs on Japan.
So time, and time again we just pussy foot around and drag things out to a nothing solution.
While every time we have the men, equipment. And fighting will among the troops to take anyone on the planet out just like we did to the Germans.

Iraq and Afghanistan could have each been completed with total victory in 12 months.

This is no different... if we started today.
Cut us loose. Tell us to crush our enemy, and stand the frick back.

My biggest criticism of this or any campaign since the 1940s is that they won't let us off the god damn chain and just get it done.

We out power, and out class our opponents in every imaginable way (except in a few cases manpower, which is negated with tech,weapon systems, and tactics) yet we are forced to fight on 1 foot, with an arm tied behind our back, and one eye closed....for the feels.
Ffs if we are going to do it cut us the frick loose and get it done

What good are these sanctions?

We need to send in troops to secure one or more of the Iranian subterranean missile bases.

What we have not seen yet is how the IRGC will respond to ground forces. But I would assume they will try to hit them with ballistic missiles. So, run decoy ground incursions and force them to react.

Assuming everything that resembles cover has been mined, we will need to either clear those mines or bring our own cover, and rapidly gain entrance to the underground bases. Or, if necessary, retreat and live to fight another day.

For all we know, the IRGC fighters ain’t shite.

ETA we have seen how they respond. When the pilots were shot down the IRGC descended in cars and the Iranian people, many of them blocked the roads. When they faced off with our special forces they were easily defeated with 9 IRGC killed and 8 wounded. No US casualties.

ETA 2 The IRGC probably has planned for assault on their bases so I’d expect a different response than we saw at some random location. Hopefully similar outcome.
