So then it wouldn't be socialism if you expanded those GI Bill and VA rights to every American citizen, right?

If the government owns the hospitals and pays the doctors, yes. It would be a socialized industry, not full blown socialism

You want the VA to be the model for health care?

Will the government certainly pays for those soldier's education. I think that would be a valuable thing for everyone. I don't think the VA should be the model but we just have to demand more and hold people accountable for doing it the wrong way

Except the cost would be prohibitive.

There’s something different about the US compared to these countries...can’t quite place it...

Common myth, all the countries you have listed operate under a capitalistic system with distribution of resources determined by market forces, and means of production privately owned. Sweden even allows school vouchers, and get this , most have no minimum wage. Some offer generous welfare and healthcare funded by high taxes, but there is a growing movement to reduce government programs and taxes in most of those countries.

The VA which allows Veterans to use private healthcare providers when their local VA facility cant meet their needs. Imagine that, a government funded and managed operation that has to rely on the private sector to do its job.

I guess the plane went right over your head. I was saying that implementing similar social strategies in the United States would make a bunch of yahoos from the right start crying socialism when it isn't. That was my point

Yes. They are idiotic. I'm sure liberals would argue that they don't pass all of those taxes on to their customers but the reality that they pass at least a significant chunk of them on their customers is indisputable

It's literally a way for the average person to tax himself while thinking he's taxing the big guy. You can't get stupider than that

No, your point was as idiotic as the clown who said the caravans would never reach the US.

How would the government fund paying for education for everyone? I hope your answer isn't taxing the richest more. You realize that isn't the answer, right?

It's kind of pathetic how many times I've shut you down and you're still hanging on to that. LOL

It could be. Have you ever taken the time to see what your taxes at your income level would be under those systems? The reason I ask is because their tax code is far less progressive than ours. Most "socialists" here haven't a clue they'd contribute the majority of new government taxes if we switched to a Scandinavian tax system. Be careful what you ask for.

The problem with that is it would be too late to change it.
