This wasn't an independent study, or even a meta-analysis intended to draw conclusions from a broad swath of published research. It was a starting point, a guidepost, intended to direct federal research (pending the Dickey amendment being repealed) into gun violence
and of course none of this matters. the point is that the results support a conclusion contrary to gun control and further studies corroborate this result as well.

and even all of that is irrelevant because it is a constitutional right to own guns (for obvious reasons) regardless of whatever statistics exist or what the culture is. period.

this is the kind of argumentation tactic i was referring to in an earlier thread

A) they don't
B) this paper didn't have independent results

They don't, but sure, let's see a link of whatever you think bolsters your inaccuracy.

Not without limit. Everyone agrees the 2nd amendment has some limits, we just disagree on where those are.

Here's your forest: our lax gun control laws are killing more Americans. We can reduce the number of Americans killed by enacting stricter gun control laws, and these laws would not violate the 2nd amendment.

Gun legislation or lack thereof doesn't kill anyone, you may need an English refresher.

Sure it does, when it leads to people acquiring guns who otherwise wouldn't, then using those guns to kill people.

It should be illegal to use guns to murder people.

Okay, we have one contrarian idiot who thinks civilians should be able to own nukes. (though he probably doesn't actually believe that, and is just arguing because he's got shite all else to do)

But everyone reasonable agrees that it has limits.

If it weren't, would you suspect murders with firearms would go down, or up?

(correct answer is up)

Wrong.

Would you like to have that discussion? I'm always happy to hand you your arse.

Most educated people would agree that we've manufactured limits after the fact.

Up, obviously. It's almost like people are the problem, not access to firearms.

Then we agree there are limits to the 2nd amendment. Next.

Most educated people agree that it always had limits, and that it's better for society that this is so.

I'm glad we can agree that laws/regulations can help to prevent crime.

It's almost like people are the problem, not access to firearms.

It's almost like problematic people with access to firearms are the problem, not either one on their own. But we can't legislate out thought crimes - we can, however, legislate out the means by which they can turn those thoughts into harmful action.

With guns at a higher rate where guns are more readily available.

It's really a simple concept, but some of you are unable to accept it because of where that conclusion takes us. Sad!

With guns, when they're easier to get. And with much higher success compared to other methods.

The gun helps. You'll get there some day!
