Wasn't this a major dissension between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson because of what Jefferson put in his papers? IIRC

The Times has been a Marxist rag since the Russian revolution. They covered for Stalin all throughout his reign of power. One of their writers, Walter Duranty, got a Pulitzer for what was essentially Soviet PR. Even after the Wall fell, the Pulitzer organization refused to retract it. There's a damn good reason most people don't trust the press.
