Trump has always been weak on the 2A front. Remember, he did the bump stock ban thing that was eventually over turned.
While he is strong in a lot of other categories, this is one that he is not. While he won't be advocating to come take our firearms from us, at the same time he really doesn't think about strengthening 2A rights. It is not on his agenda.

I know, which is why I said I know it's not a focus. I figured the biggest risk was a school shooting with public sentiment leading to an "assault weapon" ban. I think he'd do that in a second if the numbers were there.
But this is an unforced error; it's just handing them a gift. They're undermining their own argument and giving the grabbers ammo. I expected mediocre on guns, I didn't expect this.
