. If they are using it to compare to people who are 'wanted' what good does it do if they know someone who was wanted was walking down Iberville 30 days ago?

If they're using it for some other unknown reasons?

We’re about two steps away from Minority Report coming to life.

The license scanners police use are bad enough.

Then you have the usage of “Stingray” devices.

Active mode operations:

Extracting stored data such as International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) numbers and Electronic Serial Number (ESN),

Writing cellular protocol metadata to internal storage

Interception of communications data or metadata

Using received signal strength indicators to spatially locate the cellular device

The data is way more useful in real time, than say 30 days after the fact. If they are using it to compare to people who are 'wanted' what good does it do if they know someone who was wanted was walking down Iberville 30 days ago?

St Louis Police were storing the locations where license plates were scanned.

That way, they said they could go back and see where a car had been parked or located previously as a way to start a search for a vehicle connected to a crime or a criminal.

Oh, your car wasn’t part of a crime or connected to a criminal? No worries. We’ll just keep that data stored for 5 years. No danger.

"If you aren't doing anything wrong, what do you have to worry about?"

I'm appalled by the number of people who think like that.

Checked into Little Rock AFB a few months ago.

My ID picture printed on my temporary visitor’s badge was my most recent re-entry photo into the US from DFW customs.

Utah for one. I’m sure there’s others.

Aren't you curious who maintains this watchlist and what the criteria for inclusion on it is?

Not when WaPo and ACLU are the source. They've earned the skepticism.

the use of FRT to capture one of the escapees has been widely reported. Do you think everyone is lying? For what purpose?

If the Anti Christ's Legal Union is against it then it must be detrimental to criminals and terrorists and of no concern to the average citizen.

That's how that crap mobile rolls.

The American Civil Liberties Union and ACLU of Louisiana are raising urgent concerns following an investigation that shows the New Orleans Police Department has secretly used real-time face recognition technology to track and arrest residents without public oversight or City Council approval.

NPOD can arrest them all they want but if the DA's office does not prosecute them then they will be back doing what got them arrested in the first place faster than you can offend feminist.

Can you think of any other realistic hypothetical ways that they would use this data/footage?

You’re implying there is some sort of danger by them storing this info, do you care to elaborate?

So, it's not really facial recognition technology that bugs you.

It's the data they can collect to compare "scanned" faces against (i.e., their database of faces to names) --- that doesn't only contain images of suspects / convicted criminals, but images of everyone gathered from every available source. Anyone could be tracked.

I agree with you there. That's bullshite.

Why does the police need to know where I park my car? Why does the police need to know where I drive?

If you’re not at all concerned about this, you’ve been sitting in slightly warming water for a while now.
