If that is 25 miles up, that's not a failed test. That is almost halfway to space. Goes double if they successfully completed a stage.

Very likely that the missile was airborne for over 100km; especially if it crashed 40 km deep into the #SeaOfJapan.

Good point, I didn't quite think that post through.

Are we not capable of shooting it down before it does this? This is not a good look.

On CNN they still have Will Ripley reporting from Pyongyang. I can't believe he's still there... he has balls of steel.

CNN says this is an advance for NK cause they successfully used solid fuel. Says it's not a failure, but it a success.

Failure is a relative term. They didn't get it into space, but if they got it up 25 miles and completed a stage or two, they are getting there and will learn from this "failure."

CNN said it went several hundred miles and it was a success!!

Every other network is on the 25 mile failure talk track

I'm wondering if we aren't shooting them down, possibly with some sort of laser system that is classified.

The reason they keep failing is bc we or the Chinese are sabotaging it with technology...

This is actually true.

Now US military is saying the missile was fireed towards the sea of Japan, but didn't land in the sea. It blew up over land 35 km from the launch site. The several hundred miles report is mistaken.

No. We're sabotaging them before they leave the launch pad. There are numerous ways to do this: Hack into their command and control computers, sabotage the supply chain of parts before NK gets them, EMP pulses to destroy the electronics, etc..

The thing is, with rockets, the higher up you can get, the easier things get. The higher they get with tests, the faster they will progress. The hardest part is getting the rocket off the ground and up a little. Once you get up a good bit, you are less constrained by gravity and have a thinner atmosphere and things get easier as far as what is required for performance.

If they are up 25 miles, they have solved the hard part. The rest is easier.
