I didn't either until he was killed. He apparently was a great guy and rapper that opened up clothing stores in the hood that hired a lot of people. It's a mystery why anyone would want to kill the guy
So, he was a good boy?
I think the most interesting thing about this story is that people who had never heard of him were almost certainly MUCH more likely to know where his name comes from than people who were huge fans of his.

Just let nippsy die already. Who named this guy?

Thursday's shooting follows an uptick in Los Angeles gun violence. In the week ending with Hussle's death, 26 people had been shot and 10 were killed, Moore said.

Very nice of the employers to let all of those people off this week to mourn.

Yeah LA actually is pretty safe these days. They have done a lot to curb the gang violence. It's not like it was 20-30 years ago.

I heard the same thing. He apparently wasn't the typical low life thug rapper.

i agree with this.
however, he still rapped about a lot of violence and was well documented on "slapping a whitey."
while it seems a lot of his local actions were well intentioned (and i believe they were indeed,) he also still had a foot in the thug lifestyle and that's what got him from all appearances.
ETA: i don't mean that he deserved anything. all lives are valuable and i never mean to make light of that, but he was still preaching that gangsta lifestyle, despite his good deeds.

Imagine the body count had it been a 6pm or 7pm service to give folks that work a chance to make it.
Honestly I’m not a rap fan but this guy was doing things for people in the community. He wasn’t profiting off them under the guise of helping. He was truly doing things for people in need. Damn shame that good people like this get killed.

A small bump on this...
So I was listening to Sirius XM patriot this morning (conservative pundit radio... I usually avoid to not put myself in an echo chamber) and Sonnie Johnson was covering him.
At first I was fairly dismissive of it, due to the above photo and his lyrics. But she played quite a few clips of him in his economic endeavors and I was honestly very impressed. He said he was working to change the black community’s perception of wealth and making it generational. Spent no time blaming and a lot more time talking about investing and employing people that will take their families out of poverty.
Like all people, he was a flawed individual ( above tweet and his thug rapping) but there were some very capitalistic and personal responsibility positions I heard him espouse that gave me a conservative boner.
Just food for thought.
