He probably has the same concerns about Nicaragua’s election integrity as President Trump does.

Trump should take note and cancel the midterms if Congress doesn’t pass the SAVE Act.

The PLC wasn't an opposition party. They were running simply to splinter the opposition vote. This was only effective because Bolanos could not run. You truly do not know what you are talking about.

Bolaños would not have won--term limits or not. The reason why Aleman was able to organize the PLC opposition is because of Bolaños.

We can agree that Aleman and his PLC loyalists fricked the ALN but your contention that the term limit was the main tool that allowed Ortega to make his comeback is silly. Further, your attempt to explain this as "the Nicaraguan people are just morons" is dishonest.

To refute this, I would give too much identifying information. I have personal knowledge of what happened, not whatever nonsense you think you've gleaned from the Google machine.

Sure sure

It was the main tool that allowed Ortega to make his comeback. That's not silly in the least. In your imaginary scenario where there was a runoff, PLC would have endorsed Ortega. The effect is the same.

And yes, groups of people who allow socialists to democratically gain power are morons. That's not dishonest in the least.

ETA: I do love the leftist slant you put on it though. "The conservative president is the reason the socialist won!" At least you're appropriately describing how the people of Nicaragua were morons.

Did I state an issue with Bolsaños actions? Aleman is the real villain in the story. Not because of his political leanings but because he chose self-preservation. I love your dishonest attempt to characterize the content of my post. Really on brand for you and highlights what a a hack narrator you are.

PLC would have endorsed Ortega.

uh, no. A public endorsement of Sandinistas would have imploded the PLC base. Aleman might have been making back door deals but the rank and file weren't going to be down with the Sandinistas .

You guys just suggested it in this thread? Are you saying that you guys can't be held responsible for the lunatic musings of some of the more stringent believers.

Deltaland just suggested it in this thread then you jumped in to say," oh, but the socialists would" so are the socialists saying this or are some MAGA lunatics saying this and justifying it because they think that "socialists" will do it if given the chance.

Here you go. That was easy to find.

No, Bolanos' actions did not cause the PLC to form.

quote:

uh, no. A public endorsement of Sandinistas would have imploded the PLC base.

No it wouldn't have. They were already publicly entering into deals with the Sandinistas. It's wild that you are arguing that a party that ran with the full knowledge that doing so would give Ortega the election wouldn't have endorsed Ortega. Just the fact that they were in the race at all means they wanted Ortega to win.

I see. Now you're going to take trolling comments as reality, and expect me to do the same. Just further making yourself look like an idiot.

Socialists/communists (same thing) always do this. That is reality. Conservatives/traditional liberals do not.

Again, where did I state an issue with Bolaños regime? Nowhere to be found in the snippet you quoted. Thanks for highlighting your comprehension issues, though.

Give us the backstory on why Aleman led the splinter movement then, oh-wise-one.

It's wild that you think that was the mindset of the rural base that made up the majority of the PLC support.

Couldn't care less. They were stupid enough to support a party that obviously couldn't win, and allowed socialists to win because they were that stupid.

Since they were obviously that stupid, it absolutely follows that they would do whatever that defeated party suggested.

That's certainly one way to tap out and concede defeat. Just pretend the other guy is [insert whatever nonsense here].

That's certainly one way to admit defeat.

I'll give you another chance. What, exactly, has changed about socialism since Bernie's comments in the OP?

Or maybe this is an easier one: What has changed about Daniel Ortega or the Sandinistas since the video in the OP?

Or, here, a softball: what has changed about Bernie Sanders since the video in the OP that would lead you to believe his thoughts on the matter have changed?
