Kind of like CNN paying their "journalists" to regurgitate the term "peaceful protesters" 300 times a day. I mean, that's what they're getting paid to do, right?

FFS - the NFL is 100% in the public space - public airways, public infrastructure - IN NO WAY can an employer with such access prohibit the free exercise of religion, legally.

Stadiums built and maintained with public funds.
I agree the public/private lines are very blurry with organizations like the NFL.
1st amendment applies here, IMO, until they stop accepting public funds

And they would have to get past Title VII as well.

So, I must assume that, in your world, "reasonable accomodation" only applies to Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and pagans, then?

Horseisht. If I fined an employee for going to a mosque the EEOC would be all up my butt (and rightly so).

I doubt there is language in any of CNN's reporters' contracts that requires them to use those specific words and given there is specific language in the NFL's deal with players prohibiting being in certain kinds of crowds, I would say this is different. That said, if CNN felt like requiring its reporters to say that phrase and the reporters signed a contract agreeing to those terms, then it would be equally legal as the contract the players signed here.

A reasonable accommodation in instance would be to bring a minister or series of faith leaders to the players, so the players don't have to be in a crowd of randos. This is what they are obviously going to do by the way. Anyhow, I don't think the NFL would have a difficult time arguing that players being indoors in crowds right now would be a threat the operations of the business.

What if they looked at statistics and determined that the gay lifestyle comes with inordinate health risks. Could they forbid that? If they paid them not to be gay you'd be cool with it?

What would you all have said if I told you back in the year 2000 - that in the year 2020, the NFL would be fining players for attending church while also encouraging protests during the national anthem?

But they can still go to Sam's, Costco, BLM rallies, etc.?

Is Black Lives Matter Protest on the list?

NFL functions, practices and games are de facto BLM protests now.

Moose out front should have told you.

The Left has so underestimated religious people to their own detriment. I’m not just talking about evangelicals: I’m saying just casually religious people like me, and maybe even hardcore atheists who deeply care about civil liberties. And I don’t care what religion: Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or even Scientologist wackjobs. There is now only one acceptable religion in this country that you can celebrate: intersectionality. That is the only religion that has not been shat upon these past few months.

This is logical on the NFL’s part, but this board’s collective brain has been shattered into a million pieces, so it makes sense that you’re all melting down.

I dunno. For all we know the players prioritized access to membership-only wholesale clubs and rallies in the negotiation of the contract to which they recently agreed. What did the language in the contract to which they agreed say?
