"A recent study shows the controversial National Anthem protests may have resulted in long-term damage to the National Football League’s brand.

The Winston Group Sports Survey found the NFL was rated “unfavorable” by 38% of respondents, the highest among major sports organizations for the third straight month. By comparison, Major League Baseball received an “unfavorable” response from only 15%.

According to the survey:

The NFL had been competitive, but since the kneeling controversy it fell significantly behind, and this survey continues to demonstrate that trend.

Furthermore, the NFL scored particularly poorly with older males (45% “unfavorable”) and the Winston Group noted the newest numbers might indicate “a settling-in process for the new brand standing of the NFL with the public.”

However, the survey was conducted November 29-30 as the NFL was announcing what appeared to be a pay-off of 89 million to the so-called Players Coalition and “social justice” organizations. Given the NFL Players Association’s historic financial support for George Soros related groups, it is likely these monies could be funneled to more leftist activists and public opinion metrics will continue plunge, especially among conservatives..

Several advertisers like Anheuser-Busch, DirecTV, and Papa John’s have indicated they are concerned with their companies’ association with the NFL brand.

It is becoming more and more clear that the NFL may be unable to reverse the damage caused by the National Anthem protests and could be facing huge public opinion problems, and losses of advertising dollars for that matter."

Don't know about you all, but this is the first season I have gone without following or watching the NFL. It'll be the first super bowl in my lifetime I don't watch.

Goodell has killed the league. Short term profits and pushed away the regular guy.

A large portion of that 38% still watches anyway so it's not all that significant. Even with the recent drop in ratings the NFL is still the wealthiest and most watched sports league in the world.

And the owners are so stupid they gave him an extension. In thirty years we’ll look back and say he was basically he single reason the league disappeared.

Even without all their SJW nonsense, the league is garbage now.

The NFL is king, has been and will be for some time. An 1,000 person survey from the Winston Sports Group does nothing to disprove that.

That's just not true. The league is still making money hand over fist and most of those bitching are still watching the games.

The NFL still makes $13 BILLION annually, more than the NBA, NHL and the Premier League combined.

It wont ever happen, but I would love nothing more than for the NFL to collapse. It's nothing more than 'bread and circus' meaningless entertainment for the masses while the country is totally taken over by Marxists.

Of course NFL revenue is a trailing indicator depending in existing TV contracts. Give it time.

Because he's making them more money than any commissioner has ever made for any league in the history of sports. The NFL is demonstrably more lucrative and more popular by every metric than when Tags retired.

Lol, since 2006 when he got the job the league has more than doubled in value. Revenues grew from 6 ish Billion a year to like 13 Billion per year.

Fans hate him, he’s an a-hole. But he’s not going anywhere and not the source of their woes. The owners let him take all the shite while they get mega rich.

Just like Hancock for the BCS, very well paid to be public enemy #1 and keep Slive and co out of harms way.

Probably will not exist in its present form in 10-15 years.

Secondary market ticket prices have plummeted this year. If 6ou wNt to catch an NFL game in person this weekend you can get into about any NFL stadium for less than $20.

Of course gate receipts were collected by the league prior to the season starting. Next year is different. Will people with disposal income support the NFL as they have in the past. Don’t think so. Too many people have had enough of the kneeling, comparisons to slavery by the players, taxpayers being forced to fund stadiums and give parking concessions, etc....

We had Texans season tickets for 7 years and I have no plans to step back into a stadium for an NFL game. We have 2 companies in deep water Oil &Gas and just about every one I deal with socially feel the same.

The NFL is the highest rated program on CBS, FOX, ESPN and NBC. The 5 most lucrative television contracts in history are all associated with the NFL. More ad revenue is generated from commercials shown during league games than all other add revenue on all other networks combined. More people watch the NFL Network than every other league network in the world combined.

It's not going anywhere. The NFL is the best thing ever for American television and there isn't a close second.

I’ll believe it when I see it but you could be right. If it does happen it’ll be the CTE stuff that ultimately does it.

Or if college football as we know t goes away (loses amateur status), greatest minor league in the history of sports. Feeds the NFL w premiere talent that fans already know and are big fans of.

What you should really be concerned with is the sport with the lowest favorable rating, NASCAR, the all-time white man sport. NFL appears to be on the comeback even as the POTUS attempts to divide the races more than they are.

It's going away dude. It's a garbage product with garbage officiating and boring games. Add in the concussion factor and mommies not letting their kids play football anymore and the talent pool is going to drop off significantly in the near future.
