Did Landry write the check? Did he have the authority to fire Kelly?
No. He had nothing to do with it.

He is now trying to take credit because he realized people liked the move. He is not an LSU fan, nor does he follow LSU sports.

You honestly believe he was fired bc Landry said so? Woodward is still the AD and any interference by the governor only muddys the process.. but hey.. he got to talk about himself and act like a tough guy so he’s happy and apparently morons like you just eat it up with a “he’s one of us” chant.

Yes

Has Woodward refuted anything Landry said? Hes the AD. He can step up to the mike anytime he chooses to

Why would Woodward publicly squabble with the governor? Unlike our governor, he understands this process and Landry is only making it worse

He was already at odds with Landry. Hes trying to muster JBE folks into opposing the next LSU president

SW brought politics into this thing. Landry just responded

The only reason I voted for Landry was because I was worried about a scenario where republicans split enough votes for a Democrat to force a runoff and then potentially winning the runoff.

Most people are at odds with Landry bc he’s adversarial with everyone not in his circle

Woodward has said nothing publicly and that’s how all this should’ve been handled .. the governor is out of his lane here and needs to do his fricking job before trying to grab more attention for his ego..

Landry went to USL I promise you he doesn't give a shite about LSU or you as an LSU football fan. Also no coach is going to want to coach at a school where their boss is essentially the governor of the state. I like Landry and think he has done good things for the state as a whole but some of y'alls dick riding of him is just crazy. Wipe your mouths and realize this probably won't be a good thing

Nick Saban disagrees with your hot take. What Woodward keeps doing is why Nick left the game. Only someone in power can stop the madness. Let the man work
quote:

"You know, I'm not [surprised] because everybody's raising money to pay players," Saban said. "So, the people that are giving the money think they have a voice and they're just like a bunch of fans. When they get frustrated and disappointed, they put pressure on the [athletic directors] to take action, and it's the way of the world."

I trust Saban more than anyone on why the current path isnt sustainable, and you guys are still mindlessly chasing the big names that wont produce

Jimbo
Kelly
Franklin
Lincoln Riley
Mike Norvell
Luke Fickell
Matt Rhule

1) Ryan Day was a coord when OSU hired him
2) Cignetti was a SunBelt conf coach
3) Elko was a 9-7 ACC coach
4) DeBoer was about to be run of of town, successful Pac10 coach
5) Kirby Smart was an coord
6) Lanning was an coord
7) Kiffin had 2 massive failures, and had to resurrect himself as a American conf coach
8) Brent Key is a school alumnus and was a coord
9) Clark Lea was a coord
10) Cristobal is an alumnus and was a PAC10 coach
11) Siatke is an alumnus and was a coord
12) Freeman was a coord when hired

Almost no "big names" are in the current group of playoff teams. 7 of 12 were coordinators when hired. 2 were from G5 schools. 2 of the 3 P5 coaches were not big name hires (Elko, Cristobal)

What Nick Saban was saying has nothing to do with a Governor hiring a head coach. It's about how much he disagrees with NIL. You really just had to do some mental gymnastics to make that quote fit your point. Also what happens if the new coach is doing good but pisses Landry off somehow. Man people have started trusting politicians way too much.

Talk about mental gymnastics

Nick said specifically that money guys were going to ADs demanding changes. How do you do that in the middle of the year with NiL money?

BTW, he made those comments based on a question about early firings. Heres the headline for you
quote:

Nick Saban says college firings are product of pay-for-play era

Once again has nothing to do with a governor having a hand in hiring a college football coach. Just because he disagrees with one thing doesn't mean he supports what you are trying to say he does.
