New York school to use teaching robot made in sex-bot factory

Students at Salamanca City Central School District in Western New York are going to get quite the surprise when they show up for classes this fall: a humanoid robot teacher.

But not just any humanoid robot teacher.

Sally is an AI-teaching model from Realbotix, which also owns the sex doll company Real Doll.

Techspot reports,

Toronto-based Realbotix acquired Simulacra Corporation, the parent company of sex-doll maker RealDoll, in April 2023. Realbotix says its education division shares no employees, technology, or facilities with RealDoll.

One could argue that Realbotix's connection to sex robots is apparent in Sally. The machine has silicone skin, a human-like body, and concerningly plump lips. It also uses natural conversation, facial expressions, and real-time interaction to ‘create engaging, hands-on learning experiences.'

Other than the appearance, the company promises that the teacher will behave appropriately in the classroom.

Its program features strong school-specific safeguards for content and privacy, removing the risk of exposure to inappropriate, inaccurate, or biased information. It also has protections against inappropriate responses and unreliable outputs and operates under full district oversight.

Sally runs on a closed network with no public internet connection.

Which is a little deceptive since large-language model AIs are all trained on the entirety of the internet, so even if Sally doesn't have an active connection, the worst stuff is still in her pretty little head somewhere, and kids are very creative in bypassing safeguards to get to it.

Not to mention that Sally is packed full of cameras and microphones recording all these minors, and that data is being transferred to a company that also runs a sex-doll enterprise.
