They want to eradicate covid. I doubt it will happen, but the more people are vaccinated the less chance my old arse parents have of getting it while living a semi normal life.
And if they get it, they will die.

Correction. They are less likely too get infected for a couple of months. After that it is a steep curve to no different. And the new variants aren't going to give a shite if you got the vaxx.
Think of it this way. The virus is a car. Natural immunity means you body reacts to any part of the car. But the vaccine only makes you react to the sunroof. As soon as the virus mutates to not have a sunroof the vaccine is worthless. But until the virus mutates so that it doesn't have an engine, windows, tires and a bumper natural immunity still works.

Yes some vaccinated are spreading it. But why get the shot is not all that confusing.
1. You are less likely to get the Virus.
2. You are less likely to become super sick if you do get it after all.
3. Because of number two and especially number one - you are likely to spread it less.
You get two invites. One to a wedding reception, 100 people there, no vaccines or masks.
Holy moly, same day, different reception, 100 people too, but vac cards to be shown and masks worn.
You will be safer, but not 100% safe, at the second reception.
This is nothing new, no vaccine has ever been perfect.

It comes, certainly in part, from the fact that a small percentage of the people hospitalized are fully vaccinated. That is just one way we get to that conclusion.
