Don't play dumb. You know there is a difference between community gardens for the poor (which, I must add, will not be equal in its distribution - labor and ideas contributed gain more food) and the entire socialization of the agricultural system.
As a capitalist it's your best interest for these community gardens to fail, because if they work it will be expanded and collectivized agriculture for the country will be more likely.
I support your idea, because if it works it will expand socialism.

A gallon jug of spring water is about $.89. Still way cheaper than coke.

You know what's cheap? Water.
No human in the history of the planet has ever had a biological requirement to consume soda for survival.

You think some community gardens could lead to socialized agriculture?
It must be sad when you're entire worldview and belief system is a pipe dream and will never happen.

Do you actually believe collectivized agriculture works?
ETA: Have you ever done even simple garden work or owned productive property?

Nope. Water has the same nutritional value as soda (zero) and it's free. There are lots of foods that are dirt cheap and healthier than what I see purchased with food stamps.
Like dried beans, pasta, rice. A dozen eggs are 1.50.
Some of the candy they buy (like gummy bears) are more expensive per ounce than ground beef. The same goes with a bag of chips. It's very expensive per weight.

Don't worry, free healthcare to go with the unhealthy free soda

In states where they have done this it was found that the expense of administrating drug tests was more expensive than taking away payments from people who flunked.
That's easy to fix. If you want food stamps pay for your own drug test. No test, no stamps. Zero cost for govt.

48 tea bags, which will get you 16 gallons of tea if you use 3 instead of 4 bags liek i do.... and 5lb of sugar will run you a whopping $8.00 at Wal Mart. canned veggies are .60 ea and you can microwave a full can in 45 seconds if you need a snack. beats the hell out of $3 for a bag of chips.

I still buy a Sundrop once a month when I get a wild hair up my arse, and then recoil at how damn sugary it is.

Im about to go to rouses and drop 150. It is a bit of a joke how much junk people buy with ebt.
Ive also seen people buy the best stuff money can by. The fish and shrimp stands in westwego all take ebt. You wont find better seafood in the country. I guess it helps the local fishermen tho...

Most of those you want to rip health care from aren't on food stamps.
