I wouldn’t put much in to this. I have experience with several presidential motorcades and the secret service always wants police and military to turn away from the motorcade to scan for threats.

Why would they be getting a briefing when the POTUS' motorcade is passing by? Sounds like the excuse they'll use to cover up the fact that they all just turned their backs on the CiC.
I also wonder if perhaps this is why the motorcade stopped for like 15 minutes before he got out.

Lol. There were formations upon formations. It wasn’t a brief. It’s very easy to do a quick 5 second salute.

As much as I would love to think this was a slight to our new President, its not. During presidential details, you are to face out toward the threat, not toward the motorcade. I've gotten many arse chewings for looking at the motorcade as it passed.

I watched it again, and some were looking forward, some were looking over the park, and some were just kinda in a gaggle.
I don’t think this was intentional, but if it was, frick even if it wasn’t, someone needs to get lit up. Whether you agree or disagree with the president, you must respect the office.

Clinton and Obama had to have their military reviews ordered to appear. It was usually a voluntary honor to attend.

Most likely yes.
Bodyguards are trained to watch the environment, not the person they're protecting. Similar principle would be at work here.
I detest Biden but he is the CiC and the military should respect the office, not the individual.

As a former National Guard member I can assure you this was not intentional. The platoon sergeant likely nutted this one up and formed the platoon facing the wrong direction. It’s either that or they weren’t told the president would be passing by.

I served as well. And while I was never assigned to guard the POTUS I have to think that what the other poster said about them supposedly being charged to turn away from his motorcade isn't correct. I would think that when POTUS' motorcade passes by you're to treat it like a pass and review ceremony. Do you agree?
