National and local blackout response plans. Do we have them?

"Pandemic" caught us flat-footed, and Trump completely scrapped all the meticulous preparations of Saint Obama. The media told me so.

All kidding aside, though, it seems (like with 9/11) an event has demonstrated that we have never had a well fleshed-out plan for this at any level.

I know there are all kinds of efforts being made to prevent a national (or even more localized) failure of the electrical grid (and resultant Internet). Anybody have insight to know what is in place should someone actually shutdown our grids for an extended amount of time?

If George Floyd could spark the shitshow we've seen the last 2 months, just think what a complete blackout would do.

Do we have them? Probably. Will they work? Hell no.

Our power-grid is most susceptible to terrorist attacks by a long shot. A few high powered rifles could be shot into main transformers which are unguarded. The oil from the transformers would leak out after less than an hour and burn up.

I know because it happened in 2013 and was covered up.

No grid and experts predict 90% of Americans will die the first year. Most will starve to death.

The greatest fear has been an EMP taking down the grid and frying unprotected electrical components. The military has hardened their equipment with a Faraday Cage approach. There is guidance on the web about building a Faraday cage or wrapping your car in aluminum foil and grounding the foil or simply having a metal building to put your electronics in.

Good luck finding gasoline. So have a standby supply.

Some have estimated that if the grid shutdown we would be looking at 50% of the population dead in 6 months. If so those that survived would probably be country boys and gals.

Good luck with that.

With no supermarkets, do you realize how many people will be hunting and fishing?

Texas has our own grid.
We good (unless a group specifically targets TX).

And when you run out of gas because this goes on for a couple of months?
