We saw the news last night where a bill is being introduced for gun control, and one requirement for purchase will be a mental health evaluation .

my wife said there is no way in hell any doctor she knows would do that evaluation because of the liability involved.

long story short:

Good bye guns

Now apply the same criteria to voting, exercising your religion, freedom of speech, etc

What about shotguns? They are needed for hunting, which is a big industry.

There would be doctors charging exorbitant fees for these reviews.

So due to fear of liability Dr's will not approve a psych eval?

So these Drs will forgo their oath?

Prepare to be sued

ADD meds qualify as proof of mental health issues. Good bye guns.

That's not gonna happen. Any House rep can introduce a bill.

They aren’t the only gun needed for hunting.

on the basis that they can buy a gun. the oath doesn't really have to do with that.

and in this scenario, if you approving people, I guarantee you will have a Marxist target on your back

This and the supposed proposal to hold gun manufacturers liable for shootings.

The bill is designed to eliminate the gun industry and ability to own.

That sounds like HR127. Not only do you need a mental evaluation, but everyone in your house will have to undergo one. Just because you want a firearm. And you must have a government issued license for each gun. And register each firearm and its location. Separate license and fees for antique guns. Separate license and fees for the mean black ones. And you must pay the government for their liability insurance. And if you fail any part of this its 10yrs or 100k fine. And you have 90 days to comply with it all. So you are not off the hook for hunting.

I know, I'm not really a hunter. But I have 3 shotguns for home defense: should I be looking to buy another one: is it easy to do so and are shotgun shells hard to acquire now also?

I would, if you can find another gin or ammo to buy.

Never, ever subject yourself to a voluntary psych evaluation. Hire a lawyer because the fees for the lawyer will be a good spend compared to be labeled mentally deficient by the state.

Reschedule, postpone, get sick, go out of town, do whatever it takes to not take an evaluation. Postpone until 2022 or 2024 do whatever it takes.

If you cannot afford an attorney try to get a group of the family together, or friends, or even a regional group.

Never consent to an evaluation.
