If you own a fully semiautomatic military grade assault rifle, you're a demented person who deserves to be locked up.

Assault weapon is an arbitrarily defined political term. Assault rifle has a distinct definition of which civilian non-NFA firearms don't meet. I have 5 rifles that currently would fail the 1994 AWB 2-feature test, though one would take less than a minute to convert to AWB-compliant and the others could be made compliant with relative ease. Under the 2018 version our LWNJ's in congress have signed onto, all 5 of those rifles plus my Beretta A400 would be non-compliant. Completely arbitrary definition that has no bearing on the lethality or function of the firearm.
