Telegram is more than double the size of Twitter.

And if Twitter retreats from Europe, then someone else will fill the void

And you’re continuing to miss the fact it’s not about a market it’s about freedom of speech on platform.

Subtle "and Starlink" threat.

No one in Europe will start a soical media platform that is restricted in an untapped market...my friend, you may fancy yourself a capitalist, but that doesn't equate to business acumen.
But you know what, you may be right for reasons not being discussed, Euros already have access to Meta and Threads (I think) so its not like the market is devoid of alternatives if X leaves. Something else Musk has to consider and probably indicates he's bluffing.

And if meaningful competition enters the scene and takes the market for half of western civilization, it has implications on all of that
You're a complete idiot
You're a complete idiot

No shite that’s the point I’ve been making. Why would someone else start something when the EU will restrict its purpose after trying to restrict the same thing.

you may be right
Of course I am. US>EU especially in tech and speech.

It won’t. Nobody will start something that was just restricted. It’s not personal against Musk it’s them controlling the message and platform.

The European Union in August adopted the Digital Services Act (DSA), which sets forth rules for preventing the spread of harmful content, banning or limiting certain user-targeting practices, and sharing some internal data with regulators and associated researchers, among other things.
Sounds like something the US government pushed as a workaround the Constitution to police speech on the internet.

He should, because X is really a toy to him.
Starlink is a pretty big deal, most people ignore. Just talking revenue, X is at ~$4B and Starlink was $4B in 2022. Starlink is projected to hit $5.3B in 2023 and $16B by 2027.
SpaceX has a projected revenue $11.5B for 2023, which is prior to Starship coming to fruition. Starship will widely increase profit margins.
There is also that car company of his with $86B revenue, although some shrinking profit margins.
He controls the EV market, Space Launch market and within a few years the Internet market.

Musk censored users in Turkey days before the elections in Turkey, but yeah sure, he's a defender of free speech.
He didn't even take them to court. Just straight up surrendered.

He should make Starlink available in Europe and use Twitter access as a selling point.
There are 195 countries in the world. Do websites and apps have to abide by the laws in every country on Earth? Seems impossible, since some countries have contradictory laws.
