Mueller withheld exculpatory evidence from court in Cohen case

SIAP
I haven’t seen this posted yet and thought it was a great read. I still don’t believe Cohen has anything (tapes included).

The nine-page charging document filed with the plea deal suggests that the special counsel is using the Moscow tower talks to connect Trump to Russia. But congressional investigators with House and Senate committees leading inquiries on the Russia question told RealClearInvestigations that it looks like Mueller withheld from the court details that would exonerate the president. They made this assessment in light of the charging document, known as a statement of “criminal information” (filed in lieu of an indictment when a defendant agrees to plead guilty); a fuller accounting of Cohen’s emails and text messages that Capitol Hill sources have seen; and the still-secret transcripts of closed-door testimony provided by a business associate of Cohen.

Page 2 of the same criminal information document holds additional exculpatory evidence for Trump, sources say. It quotes an August 2017 letter from Cohen to the Senate intelligence committee in which he states that Trump “was never in contact with anyone about this [Moscow Project] proposal other than me.” This section of Cohen’s written testimony, unlike other parts, is not disputed as false by Mueller, which sources say means prosecutors have tested its veracity through corroborating sources and found it to be accurate. Also notable, Mueller did not challenge Cohen’s statement that he “ultimately determined that the proposal was not feasible and never agreed to make a trip to Russia.”

It's been posted and as per usual, the Progs ran from it like it has herpes.

The ends always justify the means, let's wait and see the ends before we discuss this.

Of course. Put this beside the USA Today article posted today and read both with a set of unbiased eyes. The USA Today piece reads like a pop culture magazine. I wish Vegas had a line on this. Trump skates.

Once again, NO CRIME.
We haven't finished the investigation. We must allow it to continue so we can find the crimes.

So, same deal as with Flynn correct?
They keep covering up evidence that supports these people and they still can’t throw much harder than process charges against them.

Very similar. They failed to recognize Comey’s statement and findings in Flynn’s case (I believe).

Is this similar to Mueller knowingly letting 4 innocent men rot in jail to further his own career?

The House should release those emails, texts, and the interview transcripts so the public can see the exculpatory evidence.

It will all come out. I think we pretty much know what cards each side is holding; it’s now a matter of how they play them; with the exceptions being the amount of ammo Cohen has to share and the redacted sections of the Fisa docs.

Mueller has a history of doing this.

Mueller doesn’t have to disclose exculpatory evidence of Trump in an indictment of Cohen.
Jesus, people.
Jesus, people.

Yes I read the article. Not one source on the investigating committees named. Why is that?

That ^. Two of the men died in prison because of that slimy self obsessed cork sucker. I hope he dies a prolonged, horrible death.

I'm not sure I understand.
They withheld evidence about Trump, in a case about Cohen? Trump is part of the investigation but not a target, so why would they be exonerating him?

After seeing how little Mueller has (short of an audio recording with Trump saying something that I can't imagine) I am of the opinion that the SC is desperate to say he has vague suspicion or a flight of fantasy to justify his case and 2 year investigation. Obviously they have squeezed and pressured Cohen to "remember or give us your best estimation". I don't think Cohen is crazy enough to say things that would get him in trouble for making false statements. So he likely is saying all this happened and he has no recordings or filed away documents.
